About the role

Riot is seeking an Assistant Critical Operations Manager to support the data center facilities maintenance program while leading and developing Critical Operations Engineers. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems through strong field leadership, disciplined maintenance, and coordination with internal teams and vendors. The position requires working in a 24/7 critical environment, prioritizing uptime, and maintaining consistent standards across shifts. This role is based in Rockdale, TX.


What you'll do

  • Assist in managing and executing the site maintenance program to ensure high uptime, safety, and efficiency without disrupting operations
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management for Critical Operations Engineers, including expectations, feedback, and development
  • Plan, schedule, execute, and document preventive and corrective maintenance per site procedures
  • Oversee work order quality, timeliness, and documentation standards within the maintenance/work management system
  • Coordinate maintenance windows and operational activities to minimize risk and maintain system reliability
  • Review maintenance execution, backlog health, recurring issues, and performance trends; drive corrective actions and continuous improvement
  • Lead or support response to facility events, abnormal conditions, and emergencies, including escalation and communication protocols
  • Conduct facility walkthroughs and partner with vendors/contractors to ensure safety, compliance, operational readiness, and support small projects and reliability upgrades


What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of experience in facility operations, facilities maintenance, or critical operations (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, controls, or similar)
  • Experience leading or coordinating maintenance execution in an active operating environment
  • At least 1-2 years of people management experience (i.e. direct supervision, lead role, or formal mentorship responsibilities)
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and how they impact uptime in a mission-critical environment
  • Ability to meet physical job requirements and work in a data center environment
