About the role

Riot is seeking a Data Center Critical Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data center, ensuring 100% uptime, safety, and operational excellence across all critical systems. This role is responsible for maintaining the reliability and performance of core infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems, while driving a strong culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. The leader in this role will manage a multidisciplinary team, oversee maintenance and incident response processes, and ensure consistent execution of operational standards. This position will be based in Rockdale, TX.


What you'll do

  • Own the uptime, reliability, and maintenance of all critical facility infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, HVAC equipment, building management systems (BMS), and fire/life safety systems.
  • Lead, develop, and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the operation, reliability, and maintenance of advanced liquid cooling technologies, including CDUs, rear-door heat exchangers (RDHx), direct-to-chip cooling systems, leak detection systems, and water treatment programs.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and operational procedures, including LOTO, NFPA, OSHA, and established MOP, SOP, and EOP processes.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and OEM service providers; oversee service level agreements (SLAs), budgets, and cross-functional coordination with IT, Security, and Construction teams.
  • Maintain accurate asset management and maintenance records within the CMMS and ensure ongoing audit readiness and compliance with applicable standards and certifications, including SOC and ISO requirements.


What you'll bring

  • 5–10+ years of experience in mission-critical operations (data centers, hospitals, utilities, or similar environments) with demonstrated leadership capability
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including risk controls and mitigation strategies
  • Hands-on experience with liquid cooling change control processes, including valve lineups, pressure testing, and air purge procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, participate in on-call rotations, and travel up to 5% as needed

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience in hyperscale or customer-facing environments. 
  • Familiarity with Uptime Institute/TIA-942 and NFPA 70E. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical/military training/trade school.
