About the role:

You’ll be the very first accountant in our 20-member team of scientists and engineers, working to find new therapeutics to improve human lives. 

You’ll be responsible for the entire range of accounting-related activities, from accounts payable to GAAP financial statements, depreciation entries to budget variance analysis, communicating with vendors overseas to strategizing about process improvements.

 Responsibilities:

  • Use QuickBooks Online and Bill.com to manage financial data, pay vendors, and generate reports
  • Manage the full-cycle AP process, including vendor onboarding, purchase order creation, invoice verification, coding, and approval routing
  • Manage vendors worldwide and payables in multiple currencies
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP-based accounting standards and accurate categorization of all transactions
  • Review bank activity and conduct reconciliation against cash to settle discrepancies
  • Maintain fixed assets and depreciation ledger
  • Prepare lease schedules and entries
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Manage month-, quarter-, and year-end close processes
  • Generate GAAP-compliant financial statements
  • Assist with budget tracking, expense management, and financial forecasting
  • Interface with payroll, benefits, tax, and other service providers
  • Maintain registrations as required with state and local agencies
  • Provide recommendations to improve financial processes and ensure compliance
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures
  • Maintain organized financial records and support preparations for future audits
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies

 Requirements:

  • Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Five or more years of broad-based accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Experience in managing period closing and the generation of financial statements
  • Experience designing and implementing internal controls related to financial processes
  • Expert knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Microsoft Excel, and/or Google Sheets
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential financial data and sensitive information
  • Strong communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions and process improvements based upon technical accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and understanding of financial systems
  • Self-motivated, with the desire to work in a dynamic organization
