Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Design, the 3D Visualization Lead will lead design projects from concept to execution and deliver world-class visualizations, renderings, videos, and animations in service of product marketing, brand development, and product design.

This person will work closely with the Head of Design, as well as industrial designers and engineers to translate CAD geometry and engineering data into visually and emotionally compelling static and motion-based digital assets.

This position requires exceptional 3D modeling, rendering, and animation skills, excellent time and project management skills, a high attention to detail, and enthusiasm for collaboration and constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver flawless, photorealistic images and animations that communicate detailed product features and attributes to internal and external audiences
  • Lead development of real-time cabin visualization in Unreal Engine and implement ongoing geometry and material updates into existing model
  • Produce quick visualizations (sketch/clay renderings, Photoshop images) to rapidly communicate working design concepts 
  • Supports marketing, investor and customer presentations by creating compelling visuals that communicate the cabin interior and key elements of the passenger experience across the end-to-end travel journey
  • Create arch-viz renderings and presentations to communicate the design of built environments
  • Providing hardware and software recommendations to execute technology-focused design projects and marketing activations
  • Create immersive UX, and VR/AR experiences and installations to bring design concepts to life

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 8+ years relevant design experience, preferably in automotive or aerospace/aviation
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant design discipline, or equivalent training
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design skills, technical proficiency, and aesthetic sensibility
  • Self-motivated and able to work productively without supervision 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication and presentation skills
  • Able to communicate the value of design within the context of the business, and provide an articulate rationale for specific design decisions
  • Ability to work with and produce video and motion graphics
  • Adept at explaining complex hardware and software technologies and developments in a non-technical and memorable manner, and demonstrate the value of technology investment in the context of the business
  • Able to adapt fast-paced and rapidly changing working environment by building flexibility into the design process

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • UX/UI design experience
  • Hardware prototyping experience
  • Brand and graphic design experience
  • Experience in a fast-space, high growth startup environment and/or aerospace industry

Compensation

The Base Salary Range for this position is $150,000 - $165,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives/equity, an open PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
