Mob Entertainment is a startup multimedia studio that is best known for our hit indie horror game "Poppy Playtime".  This franchise is one of the hottest new properties in gaming, and our team is naturally expanding as our ambition expands.  To give a taste of our brand's popularity, more than 100 billion YouTube views of Poppy Playtime related content have occurred since the game's launch 4 years ago. 


Mob Entertainment is looking for talented Lead 2D Artist who has a passion for environment design, character design and asset design but also mentoring and guiding other artists to be motivated, productive and successful in their career with Mob Entertainment. You’ll be working on the Poppy Playtime IP as well as other projects.

We're looking for personalities who will fit our culture of innovative creativity and collaborative problem solving. If this interests you, we encourage you to send us your portfolio and show us what you’d bring to our flock.

We’re very interested to see initial ideas and sketches along with your final rendering quality. Broader concepting/illustration work to designs is a must for this role, so please include your most creative pieces in your portfolio to show us what you can do!


Skills & Requirements

  • We work at all stages of visual development, from early concept through production and marketing.
  • Hire, lead, and mentor a group of 2D artists to further their skills and cohesion as a team.
  • Assist the art director in establishing and enhancing visual styles and style guidelines for new and existing projects.
  • Quality at all stages of the process – Creation of artwork that is well presented and defined from sketch through to final polish. You can see examples of our finished work on our website.
  • Design thinking – Solving creative problems through innovative design, balancing form and function.
  • 3 + years of experience leading a team of 2D artists
  • 5+ years of experience in 2D art for video games
  • Art fundamentals – A strong grasp of color, light, composition, anatomy, perspective and depth.
  • Participates in the overall planning and scope of the Concept needs for projects.
  • Variety and iteration – The ability to provide multiple creative options, then iterate upon them as projects progress.
  • Technical skill – Fluency in Photoshop and an understanding of complimentary software and tools.  3D is a huge plus.
  • Adaptability – Switching quickly and fluidly to new requirements and processes when required.
  • Working to a brief – Understanding creative briefs, then considering elements such as context, timescales and creative constraints when solving tasks.
  • Collaboration – Receptive to taking feedback and working together with team-mates
  • Software: Perforce, Adobe Suite, Unreal Engine, Atlassian Suite

Salary

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Final compensation within the applicable salary range will be determined based on factors such as the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and work location.

San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; & Seattle, WA DC Metropolitan Areas:   $132,000 - $169,000 USD annually

Austin, TX; Denver, CO; Nashville, TN; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; & Miami, FL Metropolitan Areas:  $115,000 - $147,000 USD annually

All Other U.S. Locations: $98,000 - $125,000 USD annually
