Hello, we're Turing School of Software & Design
The Turing School is on a mission to unlock human potential by training a diverse and inclusive student body to succeed in high-fulfillment technical careers. Founded in Denver in 2014, Turing is a 501(c)(3) non-profit while also being the most diverse, experienced, rigorous, and successful developer training program in the world.
Why Work with Us?
We are a community of educators, programmers, and lifetime students. Turing is a place where you can use your technical skills to help people unlock their human potential while still developing your own professional skills.
An Insider's view of Turing School of Software & Design
How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?
I’m a mother of two young children, and I’m also involved in volunteer work outside of work. At Turing, my schedule is flexible and I can manage both my family life and work without feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Intermission weeks built into our schedule that allow for staff to take a break. We are encouraged to work smarter, not harder.

What does your typical day look like?
My day starts with arriving on campus early to do a final review of the lesson plan for the class I’m teaching that morning, and a check in with the rest of my team. Class runs all morning with a lecture and a workshop where students work independently or in pairs. My afternoon is spent pairing with students or project managing student teams.
What makes someone successful on your team?
We all use a growth mindset. We make time to learn about each other - our strengths and how we want to grow - and we are always striving to become even better at helping our students achieve their dreams. As a professional coach on staff, I love helping people unlock their potential to reach their goals.

How do you empower your team to be more creative?
We believe Grace Hopper's idea that "the most dangerous phrase in the English language is 'That's the way we've always done it.'" There's nothing set in stone. No one of us has all the information or experience, but as a team we're constantly thinking, proposing, and debating better ways to help our students be successful.
What’s the vibe like in the office?
The vibe amongst the staff is equal parts camaraderie, silliness, productivity, empathy, and just embarrassing, glorious amounts of nerdiness. We're nerds about education and tech. I'm my whole self here, more than I've been at any other job, and my dedication and weirdness are assets that make me better at my job.
