Winter is arriving in Colorado. Whether you’re ice skating in downtown Denver’s Skyline Park, enjoying a snowy hike at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, or skiing in the Rockies, it might also be a good time to catch up on the movers and shakers in your local tech scene — and Built In Colorado has curated 19 noteworthy companies to get you started.

What’s more: Many of the city’s tech employers are developing upgrades to the breadth, depth and inclusion of their company culture, tech stacks and benefits.

The Colorado-based companies we featured are special in many ways, but all 19 have one thing in common: They are innovative, people-first organizations with intriguing perks — and well worth keeping on your radar in the winter season ahead.

What they do: FRONSTEPS offers a software solution that connects homeowners’ association and condominium owners’ association communities on a single platform. Passionate about powering safe, informed and efficient communities, the Denver-based software company provides integrated security solutions, access to community resource hubs and simplified management tasks.

THE PERKS:

  • Flexible PTO and a remote-first work environment
  • Five weeks of paid parental leave
  • Fun virtual and in-person team events including Rockies games, axe throwing, bowling and happy hours

Fostering team connections: “Having a fully remote workforce requires more intention on everyone’s part,” Vice President of Human Resources Juli Royster told Built In Colorado in September. “It’s all about intention and creating a safe and consistent space for work relationships to flourish.”

What they do: Since its founding in 1992, Procare Solutions has supported more than 300,000 childcare businesses. The Denver-based company provides childcare management and parent engagement software that organizes family information, tracks attendance, automates tuition collection and more.

THE PERKS:

Supporting remote and hybrid work enables that.”

What they do: Matillion is a cloud-based data integration platform trusted by customers including Accenture, DocuSign and the Home Depot. The Denver-based software company was founded in 2011 by England native Matthew Scullion, who co-founded his first startup when he was just 18 years old.

THE PERKS:

  • 15 days of PTO, which increases to 25 days after one year
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave for primary caretakers and four weeks for secondary caretakers
  • Four-week paid sabbatical after five years at the company

Being able to let go of dead ends and avoid the sunk cost fallacy is an extremely valuable attribute for any software engineer’s career.”
