SpringTime Ventures closed a $25M fund. In addition to this new fund, the Denver-based venture capital firm is shifting its focus from only investing in Colorado-based companies to now funding U.S.-based seed-stage software startups. The $25 million fund will also allow managing partners Rich Maloy and Matt Blomstedt to give up their consulting work and devote all of their time and energy to investing in startups. [TechCrunch]

Colorado Tech Quote of the Week

“Healthcare in the U.S. is a big, ugly, messy system that somehow works most of the time. And there’s still so much room for innovation with disruptive technologies like AI and virtual reality.” — Zaw Thet, founder and CEO of Exer Labs

Exer Labs landed $6.5M. By using AI and a smartphone camera, Exer Labs helps orthopedic surgeons or physical therapists track patients progress and range of motion. The recent funding round included participation from Backstage Capital and Life Extension Ventures. The funds will be used to continue developing healthcare tools for patients. [Built In Colorado]

Matillion received an investment from Databricks Ventures. Built on native integrations to cloud data platforms like Databricks, Snowflake and others, Matillion is a data productivity platform helping teams get their data business-ready. The fresh funds will be used to free up resources, integrate more data and give data practitioners more freedom in their work. The Denver-based company is also hiring for 10 open positions.
