Who says techies want to look at their screens all day? In Colorado, work-life balance means working with innovative tech in Silicon Mountain and then hiking an actual mountain over the weekend.

Below, Built In Colorado featured five innovative tech companies that are cementing Colorado’s status as a central tech hub. However, don’t think tech companies are only flocking to major cities like Denver or Boulder. Smaller cities like Fort Collins afford robust talent, affordable living and beautiful views, too.

prove
prove

What Prove does: Formerly known as Payfone, Prove’s platform provides continuous identification authentication. The company’s tools can authenticate new user account openings, mobile and web logins — especially when it matters most — and register call center customers. Clients include more than 1,000 enterprises and 500 banks, including eight of the top 10 U.S. banks.

Location: Offices are in downtown Denver, which means easy access to work via light rails and public transportation. The office is steps away from the 16th Street Mall, an outdoor pedestrian mall home to numerous restaurants, shops and entertainment.

Hiring? Currently, Prove is looking for software engineers, data engineers and a product development support analyst.

radar
radar

What Radar does: The blockchain company was the first business in Colorado to earn a grant from the state’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade. With that grant money — and $10.3 million in Series A funding from 2018 — RADAR continues to grow its employee pool. With RADAR, users can trade Ethereum gas from wallet to wallet, reducing the chance of being hacked or breached. In November 2019, they launched Deploy, a service that allows developers to launch their own Bitcoin and Ethereum nodes.

Location: RADAR’s offices are near the RiNo Art District in Denver. Thirsty after work? RiNO is home to more than 13 breweries, meaning happy hour never gets boring. Additionally, contemporary art galleries and colorful murals ensure there’s always something to talk about.

Hiring? RADAR is currently looking for a DevOps engineer.

FANATICS
FANATICS

What Fanatics does: If a fan doesn’t own a sports jersey of their favorite team, can they even be called a fan? With Fanatics, anyone can don their favorite team swag. And, because sports are unpredictable and players change teams often, Fanatics’ engineering team must prepare for sudden spikes in traffic and item demand. Based on a vertical-commerce model, executive chairman Michael Rubin said the company utilizes an agile supply chain and on-demand manufacturing capabilities to “design, manufacture and distribute the real-time items to fans, retailers and more than 250 partners.”

Location: Downtown Boulder. The 7,000 square foot office is located on the top floor of the Randolph building on the corner of Broadway and Walnut, providing great views of both downtown and the mountains. Inside, expect to find sports memorabilia hand-signed by athletes.

Hiring? Fanatics is currently looking for a senior software engineer.

IHS
IHS MARKIT DIGITAL

What IHS Markit Digital does: IHS Markit Digital transforms complex financial data into intuitive and impactful visualizations that help businesses deliver their data to clients in a way that’s approachable, actionable and engaging. “We aim to create SaaS solutions that make confusing financial data easier to digest, regardless of financial acumen,” Michelle Bishop, director of client solutions, said in a recent Built In Colorado article. To make financial data accessible, they are building out a more conversational user interface.

Location: East Boulder. Foodies, this office is for you. Nearby OZO Coffee and Upsole Brewing are considered external conference rooms. Looking to cool off after a big meeting? South Boulder Creek is right in the backyard.

Hiring? IHS Markit Digital is currently hiring 55 positions, including software engineers, account managers and a director of marketing.

YES
YES ENERGY

What Yes Energy does: Yes Energy makes software for people who trade energy as a commodity. Specializing in big data visualization, they provide power market participants with tools to support daily trading operations. In May 2020, Yes Energy hosted their first virtual conference, YesData 2020. More than 200 energy data and technology experts gathered for live webinars and blog posts.

Location: Near Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. The outdoor pedestrian mall is home to various restaurants, breweries and shopping with easy accessibility to public transportation and parking. Need a longer walk? Trailheads and the Flatirons are a short trek away.

Hiring? Yes Energy is currently looking for a senior database developer.
