Brightwheel nabs $21M Series B to expand early education platform

Early education software provider Brightwheel closed a $21 million Series B on Tuesday. The San Francisco company, which operates an office in Denver, plans to use the new capital to support the development of new product features and the expansion of its team across both its San Francisco and Denver offices. The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from Omidyar Network and existing investors Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Eniac Ventures, GGV Capital, Golden Venture Partners and Lowercase Capital. Greenhouse opens Denver office

Greenhouse opens Denver customer support center

HR and recruiting platform Greenhouse announced the opening of its third office in Downtown Denver’s Union Station, which will initially serve as a base for the company’s customer support operations. The announcement comes hot off the heels of a $50 million funding round closed in July, which will support its Denver expansion in the months and years ahead. “Greenhouse is growing fast,” said co-founder and CEO Daniel Chait in a statement. “[We] need to deliver support across more and more time zones and regions, particularly for our large enterprise customers. LogRhythm awarded patent for risk-based monitoring and prioritization technology

On Tuesday, Boulder-based cybersecurity company LogRhythm announced it has been granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its risk-based prioritization algorithm. The algorithm’s data monitoring methods enable organizations to assign a risk-based score to all security events and alarms in order to prioritize the most impactful events and focus time and effort where it matters most. This is the company’s third technology patent, with two others awarded in 2010 and 2013 for technology underlying its NextGen SIEM Platform. [Read more]

Peaksware Holdings launches ventures division

Boulder-based Peaksware, which develops training software for athletes and performers, announced the launch of Peaksware Ventures this week. The new venture capital arm of the business will help Peaksware expand its offerings by identifying and supporting products and businesses that align with the company’s principles of “deliberate practice.” The ventures division will be headed up by Gear Fisher, TrainingPeaks’ co-founder and Peaksware’s current CEO. Peaksware Chairman Andy Stephens will soon take over as CEO of the company. Women’s healthtech startup Kindara acquired by Prima-Temp

In a deal that brings together two Boulder-based women’s health technology startups, Prima-Temp announced it has acquired Kindara. Kindara made waves with its app and Bluetooth-connected thermometer, which help women track fertility and support a community of women looking to monitor their reproductive health. Prima-Temp, which develops chronobiological healthcare technology, much of which is specifically related to women’s fertility, will leverage Kindara’s massive community to expand the market reach of its flagship product, Priya — an implanted medical device for women that continuously monitors the patient’s core temperature. [Read more]

SendGrid brings on Carrie Palin as new chief marketing officer

Email deliverability company SendGrid announced on Tuesday that Carrie Palin has joined the team as chief marketing officer. Palin most recently served as SVP and CMO at Box, a Bay Area company that develops cloud content management tools. She also held senior-level marketing roles at tech giants like IBM and Dell.
