JOB SUMMARY
The VP, Global Controller, will be a key member of the Finance and Accounting management team, overseeing all accounting operations: leading the close process, financial reporting to third parties and others, technical accounting research, and external audit processes. You will report to the Chief Financial Officer, with whom you will collaborate to develop financial strategies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Serve as an active member of Avid’s Senior Leadership Team to help drive Avid’s business strategy and transformations efforts to become the leading subscription and SAAS company in the media technology marketplace.
Recruiting, managing, and developing a best-in-class global accounting department.
Partnering with the CFO and the Head of Tax to determine accounting and tax implications for all material and complex business transactions.
Lead the Company’s daily accounting operations and monthly close processes with a focus on driving continuous process and systems improvements.
Review monthly and quarterly reporting packages for executive management and external third parties including detailed analytical reviews, and compliance packages.
Research technical accounting and reporting matters and stay abreast of pending changes in relevant guidance and analyze the potential impact to the Company.
Partner closely with the finance and accounting teams to ensure alignment.
Review financial disclosures within quarterly and annual financial reports.
Liaise with FP&A, legal, internal and external auditors, and provide advice and assistance.
Mange audit end-to-end including serving as primary point-of-contact with external auditors.
Lead policy and procedures establishment and/or enhancement process throughout the enterprise.
Lead projects and system enhancements designed to improve efficiency including organizational development.
Oversee treasury activities and manage lender compliance reporting.
WHO YOU ARE:
15-25 years of accounting/audit experience. Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred.
Prior work experience as a corporate controller within a software/recurring revenue organization with a history of improving the timeliness, quality and accuracy of a mid-large sized organizations worldwide accounting processes. Experience with hardware, perpetual and term licenses, and other revenue delivery models is valuable as well.
Private-equity backed experience required.
Experience managing global teams and global operating entities, ideally including development of global shared service organizations.
A demonstrated history of thinking and working proactively in all aspects of their prior roles.
Strong knowledge of accounting and metrics for recurring revenue and SAAS organizations.
Strong management skills with an ability to work effectively with both direct and indirect reports to accomplish objectives.
Strong NetSuite ERP experience (recently transitioned from SAP).
Strong operational, organization, and analytical skills required.
Proactive self-starter with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment; proven experience as an independent team leader with clear ownership and accountability for delivering results.
Strong “presence” – ability to influence peers and leadership team.
Ability to analyze complex business transactions and articulate accounting implications to commercial teams.
Attention to detail and ability to complete projects in a timely and effective manner.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills required.
A bachelor’s degree in accounting with an active CPA license is strongly preferred.
