About the Role.
The Vice President, Program Manager will oversee PURE Programs E&S High Value Builder’s Risk program, serving as the senior leader responsible for carrier relationships, portfolio performance, and long-term product strategy. This role carries full accountability for underwriting execution, profitability, and growth across the Builder’s Risk product line.
Reporting directly to senior underwriting leadership, this individual will lead a cross-functional effort to strengthen PURE’s market position in the high-value residential construction segment. The VP will collaborate closely with underwriting, claims, distribution, and carrier partners to ensure consistent underwriting discipline, product innovation, and service excellence.
This role demands a strategic thinker with deep expertise in high-value residential construction risk and a strong understanding of the E&S and admitted markets. The ideal candidate has over 15 years of progressive experience in construction underwriting, program management, or related disciplines.
What You’ll Do.
Program Strategy & Oversight
- Lead the strategic direction and management of PURE’s High Value Builder’s Risk program.
- Define underwriting appetite, pricing strategy, and performance standards aligned with profitability and growth goals.
- Oversee portfolio performance, providing analysis, reporting, and actionable insights to executive leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement in underwriting practices, governance, and partner engagement.
- Lead renewal and expansion negotiations with carrier partners to ensure alignment of interests and long-term stability.
Carrier & Market Partnerships
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for carrier partners, ensuring transparency, trust, and aligned objectives.
- Represent PURE externally as a subject matter expert in high-value residential construction risk.
- Oversee carrier reporting, reinsurance coordination, and compliance with program terms and service standards.
- Identify opportunities for market expansion, new coverage solutions, or distribution enhancements.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide direction and mentorship to the Course of Construction (COC) Underwriting Manager and related underwriting teams.
- Foster an environment of collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
- Partner with internal stakeholders—including Product, Claims, Finance, and Legal—to deliver consistent program execution and governance.
- Champion PURE’s values through balanced decision-making support both member experience and business performance.
Underwriting Excellence & Execution
- Maintain oversight of underwriting discipline and authority delegation across the Builder’s Risk portfolio.
- Support underwriters and managers in evaluating complex or unique construction risks.
- Ensure adherence to PURE’s underwriting framework, documentation standards, and audit requirements.
- Oversee rate, form, and coverage evolution to maintain competitiveness and risk alignment.
What We’re Looking For.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in high-value residential construction underwriting, program management, or related fields.
- Deep technical expertise in construction risk, including ground-up residential projects and renovation exposures.
- Proven success in managing carrier relationships, negotiating reinsurance or delegated authority arrangements.
- Strategic leader with the ability to balance long-term vision and near-term execution.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional designation (CPCU, ARM, CRIS) preferred.
