Job Description:

This position will lead Energy for Flexential and specifically support our growing need for early-stage utility engagement and power capacity planning for new data center developments. As we expand our footprint and increase our development activity, having a dedicated individual focused on utility coordination will help maintain momentum, strengthen relationships with power providers, and ensure alignment with Operational requirements and our exceeding growth targets.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  • Support strategic utility engagement across existing and prospective data center campuses
  • Conduct and manage early-stage power due diligence for potential sites, including coordination with utilities on capacity, rates, and infrastructure planning
  • Member of Development Committee
  • Monitor and report on energy capacity planning, including load ramp requirements and substation/transmission timelines
  • Assist in the negotiation and execution of utility service agreements and energy supply contracts, in coordination with the Energy Manager and Procurement
  • Track and report status of power delivery milestones and contracts across all new sites
  • Partner with Real Estate, Construction, FP&A and Legal to ensure utility solutions are in place to meet project timelines and customer expectations
  • Provide insight into utility rate structures, interconnection timelines, and policy updates that could impact projects or operating costs

Required Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, Environmental Policy, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in utility engagement, power infrastructure, or energy project management
  • Experience working with a range of utility types (IOUs, municipals, cooperatives), and a general understanding of RTO/ISO markets
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes, load forecasting, and rate analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort interfacing with both internal teams and external utility partners
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in various stages of development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in data center or critical infrastructure industries
  • Familiarity with PPAs, demand-side management strategies, or renewable energy procurement
  • Experience using GIS or mapping tools to evaluate power infrastructure proximity

Physical Requirements:    

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • 20%+ Travel may be required

Base Pay Range: Annualized salary range offered for this position is estimated to be $195,000 - $250,000. However, the actual pay range depends on each candidate’s experience, location, and qualifications.
