By 2026, we will be delivering 2 million simulations per year.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly technical VP of AI & Machine Learning to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-driven products at Mursion. This role requires a hands-on AI/ML leader with deep expertise in machine learning, large language models (LLMs), and data engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of building and scaling AI systems, leading high-performing teams, and ensuring production-grade AI models are robust, efficient, and scalable. The compensation for this role includes a base salary range of $195,000–$220,000, eligibility for a 15% bonus, and equity, with the final package determined based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CTO and supported by a team of engineers, your primary responsibility is to lead the execution of Mursion’s AI product strategy, including the following tasks:
- Product Execution: You will partner with the respective heads of Product & Learning to to define AI product requirements and translate them into technical implementations, and develop AI-driven simulations, scenario authoring tools and scoring mechanisms to enhance Mursion’s platform.
- Strategic Leadership: Execute the AI strategy in alignment with the company’s overall objectives. Identify opportunities for AI to drive business value and competitive advantage.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and AI researchers. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of AI and data science projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and deliver measurable business impact.
- Innovation and Research: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in the field and integrate cutting-edge technologies and methodologies into our solutions.
- Data Strategy: Develop and implement data governance policies and practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance. Promote a data-driven culture within the organization.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate complex AI and data science concepts and technical progress to internal teams and leadership.
- Scalability and Deployment: Ensure AI models and solutions are scalable, robust, and can be effectively deployed in production environments. Address challenges related to the deployment and maintenance of AI systems.
- Budget Management: Manage the budget for the AI and data science department. Allocate resources efficiently to maximize ROI on AI and data initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, or a related field.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in AI/ML development, with at least 3+ years in a technical leadership role. Experience in Psychometrics is preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of AI and machine learning algorithms (specifically LLMs and Speech/Voice models), data analysis, and statistical modeling. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, TypeScript and/or C++ and experience with AI frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to inspire and motivate a team to achieve ambitious goals.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans that drive business value. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to convey complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
- Innovation: Passion for innovation and staying ahead of industry trends. Track record of driving research and development in AI and data science.
