The Vice President of Integrated Kidney Care (IKC) Operations role leads Value-Based Care (VBC) for kidney.  This leader is responsible for the general management and oversight of the VBC programs, clinical outcomes, and physician partnerships of DaVita Integrated Kidney Care (IKC).

DaVita IKC is the leading value-based care provider for patients with kidney disease.  We support patients with kidney disease holistically to address the totality of their healthcare needs, ultimately reducing medical complications and improving overall healthcare cost.  Our operating model and performance leads the industry.  We believe that all patients with kidney disease deserve this comprehensive level of care.  It creates a win-win-win, for the patients, for payors, and for our provider partners. 

The VP IKC Operations role leads IKC operations in the Northwest portion of the US, with the majority of patients in Northern California, Oregon, and Washington.  This geography is referred to internally as “Polaris”.  The person selected for this role will ideally live in this geography. 

This executive position provides operational leadership, counsel, and direction to the directors and management staff to improve the overall health outcomes for the patients participating in DaVita’s VBC programs.  Additionally, this position works closely with operational and business leadership, providing clinical guidance supporting business results. The position has a budget and P&L accountability, including oversight of directors/senior directors. Successful candidates will demonstrate a track record of top performance and desire to help improve our overall healthcare system.

This position is a key member of DaVita IKC’s operational leadership team.  As a member of the leadership team, the VP IKC Operations will report directly to the DaVita IKC Chief Operating Officer. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for P&L performance of ~$800M annual medical cost under management
  • Manage, develop, and train a team of clinical and non-clinical teammates
  • Work with nephrology practices and other healthcare providers across the geography to positively impact patient outcomes and deliver favorable economic returns
  • Leads the development and execution of clinical interventions to achieve clinical operational performance and outcomes
  • Maintains collaborative working relationships with all levels of management and partner physicians
  • Maintains awareness and knowledge of the assigned market and participates in internal and external business development meetings, as applicable
  • Participates in the development and management of clinical operations and capital budgets
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Travel: 20-40%
  • Day-to-day activities include: assessing and driving against opportunities in business performance with the care teams, building physician relationships, meeting with practices, team management including regular team meetings, coordination across the DaVita enterprise on key initiatives, monitoring operating results/reports, delivering monthly operating reviews, growing and develop IKC program and teammates

Ideal Candidate:

  • Operational leader for clinical teams including management of Nurses, Care Coordinators, and other healthcare staff
  • Value-based care experience
  • Physician interaction and behavior change experience
  • Strong operations and business acumen yet engaging and fun culture-builder

Education and Experience:

  • 8+ years of Operational Leadership; leading robust, regional teams
  • Experience managing budgets and driving metrics
  • Preferred experience in healthcare, particularly value-based care

The Salary Range for the role is $200,000.00 - $285,000.00 per year.
