About the RoleThe Unified Communications (UC) Architect will design, implement, and optimize enterprise communication and collaboration solutions across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
This role focuses on architecting UC and UX experiences, integrating voice, video, and messaging systems, and ensuring high performance and seamless connectivity across the organization.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in unified communications (VoIP, SIP, QoS) with a strong understanding of user experience design and organizational change management (OCM) to deliver intuitive, resilient, and secure collaboration environments.
Core Responsibilities- Architect and design unified communications systems, including VoIP, video conferencing, and real-time collaboration tools.
- Develop and document UC/UX architecture to optimize end-user experience, communication flow, and service reliability.
- Lead the integration of collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Cisco Webex with enterprise infrastructure.
- Define and implement standards for SIP, QoS, call routing, conferencing, and federation across hybrid and cloud environments.
- Partner with Network, Cloud, and Security teams to ensure UC systems meet performance, interoperability, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct assessments of UC performance metrics and recommend architecture improvements or technology upgrades.
- Oversee system migrations, expansions, and modernization initiatives aligned with enterprise architecture goals.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and OCM teams to promote adoption, create user training, and manage change impacts.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and configuration baselines for UC systems.
- Provide subject matter expertise on UC tools, integrations, and automation capabilities to enhance enterprise collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8–10 years of experience designing and deploying Unified Communications and Collaboration solutions.
- Hands-on expertise with VoIP, SIP, QoS, video conferencing, and UC platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco).
- Experience with UC system integration, architecture, and network performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of user experience principles as applied to collaboration workflows.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven experience working with cross-functional engineering, operations, and product teams.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Teams Voice Engineer Expert, Cisco CCNP Collaboration, or equivalent UC/telecom certifications.
- Familiarity with UX/UI design principles and Organizational Change Management (OCM) practices.
- Experience in multi-cloud environments or with AIOps/automation tools for UC monitoring and optimization.
- Prior experience supporting federal or regulated IT environments (FedRAMP, FISMA, or NIST).
