Role Overview
The Technical Specialist, Emerging Technologies - Forma is a technical sales professional responsible for introducing, validating, and scaling Autodesk’s Emerging Technologies across Large, Midmarket, and Territory customers. Operating in a hybrid Autodesk‑led and partner‑led engagement model, this role owns technical execution across a segment or region.
The Technical Specialist drives pipeline creation, opportunity qualification, and adoption readiness by leading validation efforts, enabling sellers and partners with scalable technical approaches, and reducing adoption risk. Success in this role is defined by the ability to responsibly position innovation at scale while maintaining technical rigor, commercial alignment, and repeatable execution models.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Advising & Technical Strategy
- Advise sellers and customers on emerging‑solution fit, technical readiness, and recommended adoption approaches.
- Balance opportunity‑specific requirements with regional standards and scalable execution.
Discovery, Demonstrations & Enablement
- Lead complex discovery sessions and demonstrations for priority opportunities.
- Enable sellers and partners with reusable technical narratives, demo patterns, and validation approaches.
Solution Design & Validation
- Architect scalable validation frameworks and lead pilot engagements.
- Align validation outcomes to expansion, scaling, and commercialization decisions.
Regional Enablement & Reuse
- Drive creation, adoption, and reuse of regional playbooks, demos, and technical assets.
- Mentor both entry‑level and experienced technical specialists within the region.
Skills & Capabilities
- Technical & Domain Expertise: Deep domain understanding of Emerging Technologies and early‑stage workflows.
- Demonstration & Storytelling: Advanced technical storytelling and validation leadership abilities.
- Solution Design & Validation: Designs pilot and validation approaches that scale across accounts and regions.
- Customer Discovery & Qualification: Able to scale execution through enablement rather than one‑off delivery.
- Business & Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of pipeline dynamics, opportunity qualification, and go‑to‑market needs.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Sales Teams (AEs, ARs, Sales Specialists): Coordinate pipeline creation, qualification, and progression across multiple opportunities.
- Partners: Enable partner‑led Emerging Technologies motions through playbooks, demos, coaching, and standards.
- Account Technical Leads (ATLs): Partner on standards, prioritization, demo approaches, and validation strategies.
- Customer Success Managers (CSMs): Align on pilots, early adoption, and implementation readiness.
- Product, Engineering & Product Marketing: Provide structured field feedback to influence GTM readiness and roadmap decisions.
Required Qualifications
- 4–7 years of experience in technical sales, sales engineering, solution architecture, or similar customer‑facing technical roles within a software or SaaS environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex discovery, demonstrations, and technical validation engagements.
- Proven ability to design and execute pilots or validation frameworks that support scaling decisions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
- Experience enabling sellers and partners through reusable assets rather than one‑to‑one execution.
- Ability to manage multiple, high‑complexity opportunities across a region or segment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Emerging Technologies, early‑stage products, or innovation‑driven solutions.
- Background in platform‑based, cloud, or subscription technology models.
- Experience leading regional or segment‑level technical strategy initiatives.
- Familiarity with partner‑led or hybrid go‑to‑market motions.
- Experience mentoring junior technical specialists or acting as a technical thought leader.
- Direct experience influencing product, engineering, or marketing teams with field‑driven insights.
