Job Summary & ResponsibilitiesRequired qualifications:Networking
  • Proven knowledge of routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP and MPLS.
  • Proven knowledge of overlay networking: SD-WAN, VXLAN, EVPN, VPN and GRE.
  • Proven knowledge of software-defined networking: Cisco ACI, VMware NSX and Arista CloudVision.
  • Experience with enterprise campus LAN and data center switching architectures.
  • Familiarity with wireless protocols (802.11 standards), WLAN design and wireless security.
  • Understanding of how to configure and manage load balancers (for example F5, A10) to optimize application delivery.
Adjacent Technical Domains
  • Knowledge of firewall technologies, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network access control (NAC).
  • Familiarity with networking in public and hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience deploying and managing multiple virtual machines, configuring virtual networks and storage, and performing routine maintenance.
  • Intermediate administration skills for Windows and Linux systems.
  • Understanding of storage technologies including NAS, SAN and Fibre Channel.
Tooling and Documentation
  • Proficiency with SNMP, NetFlow, Wireshark, SolarWinds and other network performance monitoring solutions.
  • Advanced documentation skills using Visio or Lucidchart.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to networking.
Professional
  • 5–10 years of networking experience as an engineer or architect. The ideal candidate combines experience as a networking practitioner with experience as a networking consultant.
  • Extensive knowledge of current and upcoming networking technologies and operations.
  • Extensive ability to perform concurrent tasks in complex environments while adjusting priorities.
  • Ability to communicate and modify approach, language and style to different audiences.
  • Extensive experience organizing resources, establishing priorities and leading networking initiatives and projects.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to work with team members at all levels.
  • Commitment to staying current with industry trends, technologies and certifications relevant to the role.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP or CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure or Data Center, Arista ACE, Juniper JNCIP or JNCIE, VMware VCP-NV, or Palo Alto PCNSE. Certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Cloud networking certifications such as AWS Advanced Networking or Azure Network Engineer Associate.
  • Network automation experience with Ansible, Python, REST APIs, Terraform or CI/CD pipelines for network configuration.
  • Candidates that are able to utilize AI for workflow is preferred
  • Prior experience in a lab, proof-of-concept, pre-sales validation or product-test environment.
  • Experience with traffic generation and performance test tooling such as Keysight/Ixia, Spirent or iPerf.
  • Experience working for an OEM, a systems integrator or a value-added reseller.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing technical presentations and executive briefings.
Education Requirements
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts or Sciences — Information Technology or Cybersecurity preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a related field required.
  • A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $120,000.00 to $150,000.00 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.

What is the ATC?


Our Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is like no other testing and research lab. We call it an ecosystem that is front ended by our WWT Platform (Website). It's the place engineers and architects go for exclusive resources, guidance and tools. In the ATC, we provide Labs, Learning Paths, Cyber Range, Proof of Concepts, Lab Hosting Programs, and WWT Research. These offerings are meant for our Customers, Partners, and Internal Employees who need training and education on the latest and greatest solutions across all technology domains.  


What will you be doing?


As a Networking Technical Solutions Architect in our Advanced Technology Center, you will work with our client’s, account teams and partners to develop lab hosting and services engagements. This effort involves understanding the client’s environment and translating the ATC’s services portfolio into a proposal and cost for WWT ATC services. Strong interaction with the ATC Delivery and PMO organizations is a critical part of the role as programs of work are won and handed off to the delivery organizations within the ATC.

This role resides within the Services Sales unit of the ATC Lab Services team and is responsible for developing and winning new sales opportunities with networking and infrastructure technologies for the ATC.

This role requires proven depth in networking, plus a working understanding of security, virtualization, compute and storage. You will get exposure to new, cutting-edge products from the most respected manufacturers in the industry — often before they reach general availability — and the ability to innovate in the ATC gives you an environment to continually hone your skills.

Lab and solution architecture
  • Design and build networking environments and solutions for customer engagements, supporting Sandboxes, Proofs of Concept and Lab-as-a-Service.
  • Scope incoming lab requests and translate customer requirements into high- and low-level designs aligned to an agreed test plan.
  • Configure, troubleshoot and test network solutions spanning routing, switching, data center fabric, overlay, SD-WAN and wireless.
  • Configure, troubleshoot and test the virtualization and compute infrastructure that underpins networking labs.
  • Evaluate and develop new networking technologies for the ATC, standing up emerging platforms and assessing their fit for customer environments.
Documentation and knowledge sharing
  • Create low-level design documentation that is detailed and easy to understand.
  • Author test plan documentation independently that details the full scope of a project.
  • Create architectural diagrams, access guides and supporting documents for customer engagements and internal use.
  • Contribute labs, learning paths and technical articles to the WWT Platform so findings scale beyond a single engagement.
Partner and business development
  • Further develop and foster OEM partnerships and relationships that support WWT’s go-to-market strategy around networking solutions.
  • Achieve and maintain industry-standard certification requirements to sustain partner status.
  • Actively participate in certification testing programs.
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives as needed.
  • Build and manage relationships with customers and partners, both internally and externally.
Collaboration and mentorship
  • Engage ATC leadership, Global Client Executives, Account Managers, Consultants, Consulting Solution Engineers (CSEs) and Consulting Solution Architects (CSAs) to help facilitate customer understanding and implementation of best practices.
  • Mentor Technical Solutions Architect I engineers on lab build standards, documentation rigor and test methodology.
  • Collaborate across teams and embrace change to achieve positive outcomes.
