Company Overview

Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead defense programs, ensuring seamless communication between our customers and engineering teams. This role is pivotal in driving the successful delivery of cutting-edge hardware and software solutions that meet stringent defense industry requirements.

The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, excels at translating complex customer requirements into actionable engineering tasks, and has a passion for driving programs from concept to delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Engagement: Alongside the program manager, serve as the technical point of contact for customers, building strong relationships, understanding mission-critical requirements, and managing expectations around program deliverables and timelines.

  • Requirements Management: Gather, analyze, and synthesize customer needs, translating them into clear, actionable engineering tasks and ensuring alignment with program goals.

  • Program Execution: Own the technical execution of our government contracts. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including hardware, software, and systems engineers—to define program plans, schedules, and milestones that ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products.

  • Prioritization & Resource Alignment: Work with engineering leadership to prioritize tasks, manage resource allocation, and ensure the team is focused on the right objectives to meet delivery commitments.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks to program timelines or deliverables, proactively develop mitigation plans, and communicate impacts to stakeholders.

  • Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates on program status, key metrics, and risks to internal leadership and external customers, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer sites, partner locations, and company facilities as needed to support program execution and customer engagement.

  Experience, Skills and Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of experience in program or project management within the defense or aerospace industry.

  • Strong understanding of hardware and software development lifecycles.

  • Proven ability to translate customer requirements into engineering deliverables.

  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to work across multiple teams and manage competing priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Experience with military aircraft hardware integration, particularly with avionics or mission systems.

  • Familiarity with augmented reality (AR) technologies and their application in defense or aerospace environments.

  • Exposure to or knowledge of head-mounted displays (HMDs), including hardware and software integration challenges.

  • Understanding of military standards, certifications, and compliance requirements.

  • Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship

Full-Time Employee Benefits

  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision (100% coverage for Employees)

  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick, paid holidays, and parental leave

  • Short and Long-Term Disability

  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

  • 401(k) Retirement Plan

  • Voluntary Worksite Benefits (Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital Indemnity)
