Essential Responsibilities
The Physical Design Technical Leader responsibilities include:
· Support quality initiatives including non-conformances and root cause analysis (RCA).
· Own the physical design of custom equipment design solutions, including leading design reviews and updating procedures and review checklists for FACTS solutions.
· Develop and mentor all physical design team members to improve skills and capabilities with both FSC and SC product lines. This will include development of and leading training sessions.
· Mentor design engineers and others on all aspects of physical design as it relates to FSC and SC. This will include tools, design processes and standards.
· Lead and execute lean programs that vary in scope and may include vendor or tool selection, design and process improvements and automation.
· Drive operational rhythm for the team on key process indicators (KPIs) including On Time Delivery and execution within budget.
· Lead the physical design team on the development of new product offerings (NPI) and provide technical support and guidance on proposal and project execution for FACTS products.
Qualifications / Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college.
· Overall experience of 5+ years in the physical design of FACTS products.
· Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word, Autodesk and Bentley Open Utilities 3D CAD platforms.
· Support project quality procedures and initiatives including aspects of ISO9001.
· Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% as required.
· Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Desired Characteristics:
· Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs.
· Experience specifying equipment for use in projects for the utility industry.
· Knowledge of and experience using IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards and codes, and ability to design packages when no clear customer specification is provided.
· Ability to lead amongst peers and be accountable for team results to deliver a high-quality product on time and under budget
