Simple Technology Solutions is looking for a Technical Lead / Solution Architect to add to our team. 

 

Quick Position Overview: 

 

  • US Citizenship is required 
  • Bachelor's Degree is required 
  • Minimum of 8 years' IT engineering and delivery experience is required 
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience leading multi-team software engineering organizations in a federal IT environment is required 
  • Active or ability to obtain DHS Public Trust clearance is required 
  • This position is fully remote with periodic on-site meetings in the National Capital Region 
  • This position is contingent upon contract award 

 

The Role: 

 

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead / Solution Architect to anchor the engineering and delivery organization on a large-scale, mission-critical federal IT contract. The position reports to the Program Manager over the effort and collaborate together to meet the requirements of the client. This role owns the technical health of a complex communications and data management platform that connects thousands of physical security screening devices across hundreds of federalized locations to enterprise IT systems nationwide. The Technical Lead is accountable for technical decisions and delivery outcomes across steady-state Operations and Maintenance, Enhancement delivery, and Mission Support service lines. This person sets the architectural direction, leads the SAFe/DevSecOps Agile Release Train, and ensures every release lands in production secure, accessible, and on schedule. Aside from technical qualifications, the applicant should have effective communication skills both written and verbal, a strong understanding of federal IT governance frameworks, and demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams. A passion for technical excellence, strong desire for quality conformance, and attention to detail are prerequisites for this position. 

 

This position is contingent upon contract award. 

 

 

The Technical Lead / Solution Architect at STS will: 

 

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary delivery team spanning Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, DevSecOps Engineers, QA/Test Lead, Configuration Manager, Section 508 Specialist, Technical Writer, and database and platform staff 
  • Own day-to-day technical health of the program platform including all custom application suites, client software, enterprise mission management systems, and business intelligence databases 
  • Direct the Steady-State Operations and Maintenance workload such as, but not limited to, application defect fixes, reports, business rule corrections, and platform upgrades 
  • Own the full Systems Engineering Lifecycle for all Enhancement Change Requests including requirements, design, code, integration, testing, deployment, and hyper care 
  • Lead Design Reviews and deliver design artifacts, adhering to government processes 
  • Operate in an Agile Hybrid environment using a Government-approved SAFe/Scrum/Kanban/DevSecOps methodologies 
  • Own the CI/CD pipeline including code repository management, branching and merging, build automation, and automated security and quality scanning 
  • Lead enterprise-scale relational database migration efforts and architect the migration from legacy business intelligence reporting tools to next-generation BI platforms including executive dashboards and self-service analytics 
  • Lead integration of meeting government security requirements for all deliverables 
  • Partner with the Cybersecurity Lead and Government ISSO on POA&M support, STIG hardening, ATO artifacts, and Information Security Vulnerability Management response 
  • Ensure every release containing user-interface functionality is validated per DHS Trusted Tester for Web Methodology v5.0 and WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA 
  • Present at Program Management Reviews, Engineering Review Boards, and Government IT Enterprise Architecture design reviews 
  • Support in the resolution of Critical Incident responses and Root Cause Analysis of system issues  
  • Be reachable for critical incident response under a 24x7x365 production support obligation 

 

Education and Experience: 

 

Required 

 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline 
  • US Citizenship 
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive IT engineering and delivery experience 
  • Minimum 5 years leading multi-team software engineering organizations in a federal IT services environment 
  • Hands-on experience operating a SAFe Agile Release Train or equivalent scaled Agile delivery model across multiple concurrent Scrum teams 
  • Production experience leading DevSecOps pipelines including Git-based branching, build automation, automated security scanning, and automated regression and deployment 
  • Experience leading enterprise-scale relational database platform work preferably including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and migrations between them 
  • Experience leading BI and analytics platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, COGNOS, or similar at scale including dashboard development and data model design 
  • Experience managing federal cybersecurity obligations including NIST 800-53 controls, ATO artifacts, POA&Ms, STIG hardening, and ISVM patching cadence 
  • Strong understanding of Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA accessibility obligations and the DHS Trusted Tester for Web Methodology 
  • Must be able to work the hours of 8am-5pm Eastern Time regardless of home location 

 

Preferred 

 

  • Working knowledge of the DHS Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SELC) or directly comparable federal SDLC frameworks 
  • Prior experience supporting DHS, specifically TSA, or a comparable federal civilian IT modernization program 
  • Direct experience supporting large-scale communications and data management platforms integrating physical security screening equipment with enterprise IT systems 
  • Experience coordinating with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) on hardware and software integration efforts 
  • Familiarity with microservices, containerization, and publish/subscribe data fabric architectures 
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or comparable federal cloud environments 

Preferred Certifications: 

 

  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE), or SAFe Architect certification 
  • AWS or Azure Solution Architect certification particularly with federal cloud environments 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) 
  • ITIL 4 or equivalent process certification 

 

Clearance Requirement: 

 

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance 
  • Active DHS Public Trust clearance strongly preferred
