Through technical excellence and strategic execution, Riot has positioned itself as a leader in the industry driving advancements that continue to set new benchmarks in digital infrastructure.

We are trailblazers. Problem solvers. People who thrive in fast-paced environments, communicate clearly, and bring relentless focus to efficiency and execution.

About The Role

Riot is expanding our footprint into hyperscale data centers for AI and HPC clients, and we’re looking for a Systems Administrator to help shape the future of digital infrastructure.  This is your chance to work on cutting-edge projects at the intersection of energy, data, and innovation—alongside a team that’s redefining what’s possible in the digital age.

As our Systems Administrator, you’ll support and maintain Riot’s internal infrastructure across multiple locations. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, stability, and performance of core IT systems, including servers, virtualization platforms, and Microsoft cloud services.

This is a hands-on, operational role for someone who can work independently, take ownership, and be trusted to manage the environment in the absence of direct oversight. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and capable of maintaining a stable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.

In addition to core IT responsibilities, this role supports the technology needs of a fabrication and engineering-focused manufacturing environment (ESS Metron). This includes working closely with mechanical and electrical engineering teams, plant operations, and external vendors to ensure reliable and efficient system performance across the organization.

This position will be based in our ESS Metron office in Downtown Denver.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the monitoring, maintenance, and overall health of physical and virtual server infrastructure across multiple sites, including proactive system health checks and issue resolution.
  • Administer and support Windows Server environments and Microsoft hybrid infrastructure, including Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, patching, and performance optimization.
  • Manage virtualization platforms (VMware and/or Nutanix), including provisioning, lifecycle management, and resource optimization.
  • Oversee core infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, file services, backups, and Microsoft 365 collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint Online).
  • Monitor system performance, respond to alerts, and implement infrastructure changes following established change management processes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and enforce security best practices, including patch compliance, access control, and system hardening.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects such as upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for Level 2 support, resolving complex issues while mentoring staff and promoting best practices.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and support IT operations within a manufacturing and engineering environment to ensure system reliability and business continuity.
  • Operate with a high degree of ownership and autonomy, proactively maintaining a stable, secure, and high-performing environment while making sound technical decisions.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent enterprise IT experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in systems administration / infrastructure support.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and hybrid environments (on-prem AD + Entra ID / Microsoft 365).
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 services (including SharePoint Online).
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware and/or Nutanix).
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, routing).
  • Experience with system monitoring, backups, performance analysis, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • PowerShell scripting experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and operate with minimal supervision.

Preferred Certifications (Highly Desired)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900).
  • Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) and/or VMware Certified Professional (VCP).

What We Offer

  • Competitive Salary: $90,000-$110,000 (commensurate with experience) + bonus + sign-on equity grant.
  • Long-Term Growth: Eligible to participate in Riot’s equity incentive programs and share in the success you help build.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan: Incudes a generous company match.
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Multiple medical plan options, including 100% company-paid plans.
  • Wellness & Lifestyle Perks: Enjoy free gym memberships, pet insurance, childcare discounts, and more to support your life both in and out of work.
