What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $70,000.00 - $95,000.00. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site 3 days per week and off-site as needed. The Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency requires 3 days in office at the Wellington Webb Municipal Building. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

What You’ll Do

The Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency’s (CASR) vision is to build a carbon pollution free, sustainable, and resilient Denver for all. Guided by science and shaped by community input, CASR delivers bold solutions through policies, programs, and capital projects that reduce emissions, advance environmental justice, and strengthen climate resilience. Our portfolio includes beneficial electrification, energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy storage, climate adaptation, community resilience, nature-based solutions, natural resource conservation, embodied carbon, waste reduction and diversion, communications, community engagement, and workforce development—all with a strong focus on equity. This work is driving measurable progress toward a healthier, more sustainable Denver for generations to come.

As the Sustainability & Resiliency Administrator, you play a key role in supporting both CASR’s Climate Adaptation and Community & Economic Resiliency portfolios by providing division-level analytical, administrative, and program support.
This position is ideal for someone who excels at contract and budget work, process improvement/development, and collaborative problem-solving within a mission‑driven public-sector setting.

Specifically, as the Sustainability & Resiliency Administrator you will:

  • Perform specialized administrative activities/projects supporting both the Climate Adaptation and Community & Economic Resiliency teams, improving efficiency and effectiveness of cross-team operations.

  • Work directly with contractors to provide on-going support and guidance including tracking progress toward deliverables, running check-in meetings, processing invoices, and administering contracts for compliance.

  • Support contract development, including drafting elements of scopes of work and reviewing proposals.

  • Support tracking of Climate Protection Fund investments related to climate adaptation and community resilience.

  • Integrate CASR guiding principles into program and project administration and support consistent application across the project lifecycle.

  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and refinement of operating policies and procedures, and provide technical and interpretive guidance to staff and stakeholders.

  • Liaise with other CASR divisions, City departments, community groups, and regional partners to coordinate shared work, facilitate information flow, and support cross-functional initiatives.

  • Help integrate and track climate adaptation standards, equity considerations, and community resilience strategies across projects and programs.

  • Assist with development, implementation, and improvement of internal systems related to workflow, documentation, quality assurance, and performance monitoring.

  • Support deployment of program/project workflow and execution within budget cycle.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Experience in contract oversite, project and budget management, coordination, and evaluation.

  • Ability to collect and process program data and communicate insights and findings from the data.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience supporting programs in climate, environmental justice, community development, public health, emergency management, or a related field.

  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with professionalism, tact, and relationship-centered communication.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, especially when supporting multiple managers and workstreams.

  • Skilled in writing, presenting, and synthesizing information for varied audiences.

  • Understanding of institutional and structural inequities and their impact on community resilience; commitment to applying equity principles.

Required Minimum Qualifications
  • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s).

  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of full-performance professional experience in a specialized functional area

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.

  • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

  • License/Certifications: None.
