Supervisor, Compensation

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Remote)

Classification: Exempt

Status: Full-time

Purpose

The Compensation Supervisor leads the day-to-day administration, analysis, and delivery of compensation programs that support the organization's talent and business objectives. This role oversees compensation processes, provides guidance on pay decisions, ensures compliance with applicable laws and company policies, and supervises compensation professionals responsible for market analysis, job evaluations, salary structures, and incentive programs. The Compensation Supervisor partners closely with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and business leaders to deliver competitive and equitable compensation solutions.

This is a remote position that requires on-site presence occasionally in our Pittsburgh office, as determined by the Chief Human Resources Officer or Director, Total Rewards, or in response to specific job demands.

Responsibilities

Compensation Program Administration

  • Supervise the administration of base pay, incentive, and recognition programs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of annual compensation planning activities, including merit increases, promotions, market adjustments, and incentive payouts.
  • Monitor compensation practices to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Support the design, implementation, and communication of compensation programs and policies.

Compensation Analysis

  • Oversee market pricing activities using salary surveys and other appropriate compensation sources.
  • Review and consult on job evaluations, benchmark analyses, and compensation recommendations.
  • Analyze compensation data and trends to identify pay gaps, market movement, and program effectiveness.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations for HR and business leadership.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to compensation team.
  • Establish goals, priorities, and performance expectations for the compensation team.
  • Foster a client-focused culture that delivers responsive and high-quality compensation support.

Business Partnership

  • Consult with Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, and Leaders on compensation-related matters, including hiring offers, promotions, transfers, retention actions, and organizational changes.
  • Provide recommendations aligned with compensation philosophy, market practices, and budget considerations.
  • Support Talent Acquisition efforts by ensuring competitive and consistent pay decisions.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local compensation regulations, including pay transparency and pay equity requirements.
  • Create, update, and maintain compensation policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Participate in compensation audits and establish controls to ensure data integrity and process accuracy.

Project Management

  • Lead compensation-related projects, including salary structure updates, system enhancements, survey participation, and process improvements.
  • Partner with HRIS, Finance, and other stakeholders to improve compensation processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Support organizational changes, and other strategic initiatives requiring compensation expertise.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ experience of progressive HR and Compensation experience with two (2) or more years of leadership, supervisory, or project leadership preferred.
  • Experience supporting annual compensation cycles, market pricing, and job evaluation processes.
  • Experience working with HRIS and compensation planning tools.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, salary administration, incentive programs and job evaluation methodologies.
  • Understanding of pay equity, pay transparency and applicable compensation regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present actionable insights.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to deliver in a dynamic environment under tight timelines and changing priorities.
  • A proven ability to effectively communicate complex concepts in a simple manner.
  • High sense of accountability and urgency.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the specialty pharmacy industry or a related healthcare field.

Work Environment

This position works in a home office and professional office environment. When in-office this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and communications via MS Teams.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as reading and working with various forms of data on a screen.
