The Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager has a critical strategic role within our Commercial team. In this role, you will engage and collaborate heavily with Marketing to solve complex business problems, driving competitive advantage and directly impacting business results. You will be responsible for achieving maximum value for money across part of our Demand / Content portfolio (largely responsible for the sourcing of market research and insight services), creating and implementing robust sourcing strategies to deliver great work that is responsibly sourced and reasonably costed.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Develop and Execute Sourcing Strategies: Use the official Mars framework to create and implement sourcing strategies across the Content team, holding primary responsibility for the market research and insights sub-section.
Global and Regional Category Management: Take ownership of the Marketing services subcategory spent on both a regional (EU, CEAB, APMEA) and global basis, actively driving harmonization and automation as a key member of the Global Category Team.
Contract and Supplier Management: Develop and implement regional and global contracts with marketing agencies and suppliers to secure favorable pricing, volume rebates, service levels, and capacity to deliver tangible savings and efficiencies.
Stakeholder Partnership and Influence: Partner with and co-pilot key stakeholders, especially senior marketing leaders, fostering heavy cross-functional collaboration to ensure sourcing strategies are fully aligned with business needs.
Build and Leverage Category Expertise: Act as a subject matter expert, providing market and financial insights to the business while leveraging strong knowledge of internal and external business issues to continuously improve the services Mars procures.
Leadership and Mentorship: Act as a guidance resource for colleagues and support junior team members, playing a crucial role in building a high-performing Commercial team and ensuring the successful execution of projects.
Cross-functional & Divisional Delivery: Drive projects horizontally and vertically across Mars, taking responsibility for one capability area within Demand, as well as leading the broader delivery for the Content team within Commercial Demand for one division.
What are we looking for?
A University degree (Bachelors or Masters), preferably in Business, Procurement, or a related field.
5+ years of professional experience in commercial/procurement roles within a complex, multinational organization.
Strong, proven experience specifically in marketing and sales procurement (experience in sourcing marketing services, market research, or insights is highly preferred).
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with a track record of partnering successfully with senior business and marketing leaders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial acumen to evaluate supplier proposals and market trends.
Tech-savviness & Automation: A strong understanding of modern technology and a proven track record of using automation and digital tools to drive productivity and streamline procurement workflows.
AI & Future-Ready Mindset: Familiarity with modern AI tools and generative technologies, with a clear understanding of how they are currently used and how to leverage them to work smarter and more efficiently.
Proven project management skills with the ability to manage complex regional and global portfolios independently.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with full fluency in written and spoken English.
