As a Staff Software Engineer you will be joining our fast-moving product engineering team working on the future of our alerting platform. In your day to day you will be architecting and delivering features for a large scale globally distributed platform and set of applications that ingests and processes hundreds of thousands of data points per second. This US-based role can be remote or based out of our New York City office.

The opportunity

• Influence the next iterations of our architecture as we strive to get critical data to our clients faster and with near-perfect reliability.

• Implement industry best practices along with novel patterns and technologies that will help improve the codebase and the product.

• Contribute code to production systems from the get-go.

• Share responsibility for several microservices and design significant features that impact multiple services, across team boundaries

• Partner with other members of the team to plan and deliver the next iteration of our customer applications to support emerging use cases for our product.

What You Bring

• 7+ years of experience building back end services and applications.

• Strong object-oriented design, API design, data modeling, data storage/retrieval and programming skills.

• Self orienting and a bias for action.

• Ability to lead 0 to 1 projects and drive alignment across teams and functions.

• Experience mentoring and influencing Senior and Junior engineering team members in evolving their skills as software engineers.

Good to Have

• Experience with Elixir, Erlang, Scala and/or other functional programming languages

• Strong understanding of RESTful API and GraphQL best practices

• Experience working with large scale distributed systems, microservices, real time streaming data and messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS

The annual base salary range for this position is $155,200 - $215,000. You will also be eligible to receive a discretionary bonus and Company equity. Actual salary will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.
