We are seeking a skilled and experienced Staff Air Quality Engineer or Scientist to join our expanding Air Quality Methane Team in Lakewood, Colorado. Preference will be given to candidates who reside in or are willing to relocate to Lakewood.

This full-time position offers a dynamic range of responsibilities, requiring adaptability and a broad skill set. It presents an exciting opportunity to contribute technical expertise to complex air quality projects across industries such as oil & gas, mining, chemical, energy, and other industrial sectors—both within Colorado and our North American region.

Required Technical Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related scientific field
  • Previous experience in the areas of air quality permitting and compliance consulting is a plus
  • Zero to 2 years of experience solving environmental problems, calculating air quality emissions, and interpreting permits or environmental regulations
  • Technical writing skills, and experience writing comprehensive technical reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite software and PDF software
  • Ability to visit industrial and manufacturing facilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and efficiently complete tasks in support of air quality-related frameworks, compliance reporting, permitting, and stakeholder communication.
  • Provide technical understanding related to projects including regulatory requirements, compliance obligations, and voluntary frameworks.
  • Interact with project team members to steward preparation and submittal of client deliverables such as greenhouse gas emissions reports and air quality permits.
  • Understand and utilize air quality reporting and software tools such as ProMax.
  • Assist clients with compliance and voluntary air quality reporting programs.
  • Proactively work with SLR project managers to maintain a sustainable workload.
  • Short-duration travel to visit project locations and attend meetings.
  • With appropriate experience, a successful candidate will be considered for work as a representative of SLR, temporarily working in client office.

  • Salary range: $55,000 – $70,000
