Join us on our mission to reverse metabolic disease in one billion people.

This Staff Actuary will lead the actuarial thinking behind some of Virta’s most important commercial and strategic decisions. Sitting on the Commercial Analytics team within our Product Development organization, this role is uniquely positioned to connect Virta’s clinical outcomes and data with the financial value we deliver to our clients. You’ll shape how we quantify and communicate ROI, design innovative performance guarantees and risk arrangements, and bring an actuarial perspective to the development and commercialization of Virta’s products. This is a highly visible, hands-on role for a commercially minded actuary who wants to go beyond traditional modeling – using data, judgment, and storytelling to influence decisions across Commercial Leadership, Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and our Executive Leadership Team.

Responsibilities
  • Own Virta’s actuarial and financial value strategy. Lead the evolution of Virta’s core savings, ROI, and actuarial methodologies, working hands-on with medical and pharmacy claims and other healthcare data to translate Virta’s clinical outcomes into credible and compelling financial impact.

  • Design performance guarantees and risk arrangements. Develop and evaluate performance guarantees, value-based contracts, and other innovative structures that balance compelling client value with responsible financial risk for Virta.

  • Shape product and commercial strategy. Partner closely with Commercial Leadership, Product Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Executive Leadership to bring an actuarial perspective to new products, pricing, benefits, and go-to-market strategies, turning complex questions into rigorous analyses and clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Bring actuarial credibility to the market. Serve as Virta’s senior actuarial authority in support of strategic sales, renewal, and client conversations, clearly communicating Virta’s economic value to sophisticated audiences including employers, health plans, consultants, and actuaries.

  • Evaluate emerging healthcare trends. Identify and evaluate the financial implications of changing healthcare utilization, pharmacy economics, GLP-1s, and other market dynamics that affect our clients and products.

  • Build for scale. Define enterprise standards for reusable models, methodologies, tools, and processes that make actuarial expertise accessible across Virta and reduce reliance on one-off analyses.

  • Raise the analytical bar. Establish & uphold rigorous approaches to financial modeling and ensure Virta’s actuarial claims and methodologies are transparent, defensible, and grounded in evidence.

  • Mentor and develop actuarial talent. Serve as a technical mentor and trusted resource for actuarial and analytics team members, providing coaching, reviewing complex work, and helping shape career development and growth plans for actuarial talent at Virta.
