Senior Test Engineer – FEMA Location:RemoteClearance Required:Must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS High Risk Public Trust clearanceEmployment Type:Full-timePosition Overview:We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Test Engineer to support the testing and quality assurance of FEMA's Field Assessment and Collection Tools (FACT) and other geospatial systems under the Field Assessment Tools Technical Services (FATTS) contract. The Senior Test Engineer will be responsible for ensuring software products meet rigorous technical, functional, and security requirements in a disaster response and recovery environment. The successful candidate will work in Agile teams, validating solutions that include complex geospatial integrations and supporting FEMA’s disaster mission operations.Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute manual and automated tests to verify software functionality, integration, performance, and security
- Validate that FEMA geospatial tools comply with defined acceptance criteria, Section 508 accessibility standards, and user requirements
- Analyze test results, document defects, and track them through resolution
- Develop and maintain test cases, test plans, test scripts, and test data for both new and existing systems
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and system owners to ensure comprehensive testing coverage
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, reviews, and product demonstrations
- Support regression testing and validation for software updates, patches, and new releases
- Provide input on architectural improvements and changes to enhance testability and reliability
- Support operational testing under disaster surge conditions and off-hours scenarios
- Contribute to continuous improvement of FEMA’s test practices and frameworks
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- 14+ years of experience in software quality assurance or software testing
- Demonstrated experience with test planning, execution, and automation in an Agile environment
- Experience with geospatial platforms such as ESRI ArcGIS, Portal, or ArcGIS Server
- Strong experience with test automation tools and scripting (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, Postman, SoapUI, or Python)
- Proficiency in working with APIs, web services, and data integration testing
- Knowledge of accessibility testing standards (Section 508)
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or similar issue tracking and documentation tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with FEMA systems or federal government QA processes
- Knowledge of the DHS Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC)
- Experience testing secure systems in compliance with FISMA and NIST 800-53 standards
- Agile or Scrum certification (e.g., CSM, SAFe)
- ISTQB or equivalent software testing certification
