Position Summary

Natera is looking for a Sr Systems Administrator to be the on-site go-to person for IT Infrastructure and Employee Care at our Boulder office. You'll be the person who keeps day-to-day operations running smoothly while serving as a local extension of our centralized IT Employee Care and Infrastructure team. This is a hands-on role that will own end-user support, site infrastructure, networking, and equipment connectivity for a site with roughly 25–75 people. You'll partner closely with our central IT group on configurations, standards, security, and larger projects. As the senior on-site IT resource, you'll operate a level above the day-to-day ticket queue — owning Level 2–3 escalations and acting as the local point of engagement and operational support for business and lab operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Escalation & Employee Care

  • Own Level 2–3 escalations for the site, serving as the senior technical resource for complex issues beyond the L1 ticket queue.
  • Provision, image, deploy, and maintain laptops, desktops, and workstations.
  • Support and troubleshoot printers, peripherals, conference room / AV systems, and other office hardware.
  • Onboard and offboard local employees, including account, device, and access setup in coordination with central IT.
  • Engage off-hours support for site-critical issues and provide an on-site escalation backstop.

Infrastructure, networking & connectivity

  • Help support site networking alongside the Network Operations Team.
  • Act as remote hands to help troubleshoot switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, and internet connections.
  • Manage connectivity for lab and specialized equipment, ensuring instruments and workstations stay reliably connected to the network.
  • Monitor site infrastructure and proactively address issues before they impact the team.

Site operations & leadership

  • Act as the on-site resource for infrastructure and employee care operations.
  • Partner with the centralized IT team to roll out standards, tools, security practices, and projects locally.
  • Manage local hardware inventory, procurement requests, and vendor relationships, including outsourced services
  • Manage building access, utilities, environmental safety, and local regulatory compliance.
  • Document local systems, processes, and runbooks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years in IT support / operations, with demonstrated growth from service desk to infrastructure and systems work.
  • Strong end-user support skills paired with solid infrastructure fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals: switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi, DNS/DHCP, VPNs, and ISP coordination.
  • Experience deploying and managing endpoints (laptops, desktops, workstations) and associated tooling (MDM/imaging).
  • Hands-on experience supporting enterprise systems such as Google Workspace, Zoom, and Atlassian.  Familiarity with other enterprise business SaaS applications a plus
  • Experience owning Level 2–3 escalations and acting as a senior point of resolution above a first-line support queue.
  • Experience coordinating with offshore, managed, or outsourced support teams across time zones.
  • Self-directed and dependable — able to run a site independently while staying aligned with a central team.
  • Clear communicator who can support both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries preferred
  • Strategic and execution-oriented; able to think globally while acting locally.
  • Comfortable in both leadership and hands-on operational roles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging internal stakeholders, external vendors, and customers.
  • Pragmatic, resourceful, and able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience supporting lab, scientific, or specialized equipment connectivity.
  • Server, storage, or virtualization administration experience.
  • Exposure to security/compliance practices (endpoint security, access management).
  • Prior experience as a site lead.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Google Workspace Admin, CompTIA Network+/Security+, networking vendor certs).
