Job DescriptionPosition Summary
The Senior Staff Accountant, Hospitality for Aspen One is responsible for general ledger and accounting activities for Aspen Hospitality, a key business vertical of Aspen One. This role supports financial accuracy, policy compliance, and alignment with Aspen One’s broader accounting standards and strategic objectives. This role reports the Assistant Controller, Hospitality.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $71,000 to $92,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience; all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions/Key Job Responsibilities.
- Assist the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records in compliance with company policies, procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for income, expense, and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with hotel billing tasks as assigned
- Assist in the preparation of the daily income journal from the point-of-sale system
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including adjustments, accruals, and prepaid expenses, as well as others as needed.
- Maintain a clean balance sheet by reconciling all accounts monthly, addressing outstanding items promptly, and ensuring accurate inventory documentation and valuation.
- Maintain operational standards for accounting, cash handling, accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audits, systems support, and payroll.
- Coordinate with shared services on capital close and fixed assets
- Coordinate with shared services on annual audit requests
- Control exposure to bad debt losses by enforcing credit and collection procedures and ensuring overdue payments are collected per company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
- B.S Degree in accounting/finance or equivalent experience.
- 3 or more years of hotel accounting experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of hotel property management software, point of sale systems, electronic time clock systems, spreadsheet software, and other hotel applications
- Month-end close experience
- Knowledge of financial statement preparation, month-end and year-end close processes.
- Understanding of internal control structures and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with tax laws and reporting (federal, state, local).Knowledge of internal and external audit procedures.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide insights.
- High level of accuracy in preparing and reviewing financial information.
- Capable of identifying accounting issues and determining appropriate solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
- Can work with minimal supervision, making sound decisions based on accounting principles.
- Ability to handle sensitive financial data with discretion and integrity.
- Flexibility to adjust to evolving business needs and regulatory updates.
- Advanced Excel skills (vlookups, Pivot Tables, Power Queries, etc.)
Work Environment & Physical Demands
• Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time, kneeling and bending may be required
• Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions
• Must be able to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
