ABOUT BRANCHLAB
BranchLab is an AI-native healthcare commercialization platform that helps pharmaceutical brands, healthcare marketers, agencies, and media partners identify, activate, and optimize audiences most likely to drive meaningful health outcomes.

Using predictive modeling and advanced audience intelligence, BranchLab enables clients to build custom patient, caregiver, and healthcare professional (HCP) audiences, activate them across digital, TV, social, audio, and out-of-home media, and optimize performance against real-world outcomes.

Our mission is to improve healthcare commercialization by helping organizations make faster and smarter marketing decisions while maintaining the highest standards of privacy, compliance, and scientific rigor.

We work with some of the world's leading healthcare organizations to improve how treatments, providers, and health information reach the people who need them most.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re looking for a backend focused Sr. Software Engineer to join our Boulder-based team and help build the infrastructure powering our privacy first, data-driven platform. This role blends distributed systems engineering and cloud-native development in a high-impact environment. You’ll design scalable systems to process, transform, and query large volumes of anonymized healthcare data. You’ll also design systems to drive insights and power downstream applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, build, and maintain backend systems and APIs using Python.

  • Architect distributed systems using AWS services like EKS, EMR, S3 and Athena.

  • Deploy ML models in engineering pipelines.

  • Build and optimize ETL pipelines and secure data-sharing workflows using Spark.

  • Deploy and manage containerized services with Docker and Kubernetes, and manage infrastructure-as-code.

  • Work with large-scale datasets using advanced SQL for analytics, reporting, and data product features.

  • Ensure system reliability, scalability, and observability in a production environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong backend development experience in Python.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and services (ideally AWS).

  • Understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.

  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries and working with large-scale datasets (Athena, Redshift, PostgreSQL, etc.).

  • A pragmatic problem-solving mindset with an eye for performance, security, and maintainability.

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Familiarity with real-time data processing or streaming architectures.

  • Comfort with infrastructure-as-code tools (CloudFormation, CDK, etc.).

  • Background in data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.

  • Exposure to Healthcare, AdTech, or privacy-sensitive data systems.

WHY JOIN BRANCHLAB?

  • Competitive salary (145-195k) + significant equity

  • Tackle complex engineering challenges in privacy-first healthcare advertising.

  • Work alongside top-tier engineers and data scientists.
