Job Title: Senior Manager, US Commercial Operations

Location: Remote

Overview:
Apellis Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager of US Commercial Data Operations to lead data integration, quality assurance, and governance of commercial data assets across the US business. This individual will serve as a key strategic partner to Sales, Marketing, Market Access, and Patient Services by enabling actionable insights through high-quality data infrastructure and operations.

This role will lead the management of data vendors, ensure efficient data pipelines, and support the timely delivery of data to key stakeholders and downstream systems. The ideal candidate combines strong technical understanding of commercial pharma data with the business acumen to enable agile decision-making in a high-growth biotech environment.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership of Commercial Data Operations:

  • Own the end-to-end management of US commercial data assets (e.g., specialty pharmacy, hub, claims, field activity, patient-level data, etc.).
  • Design and oversee data ingestion, validation, transformation, and integration into the commercial data warehouse and downstream reporting systems.

Master Data Management (MDM):

  • Own and manage MDM operations for HCPs, HCOs, and account hierarchies to ensure alignment across CRM, reporting, and field force operations.

Vendor & Partner Management:

  • Act as primary liaison for data vendors, analytics partners, and third-party platforms to ensure high performance and service delivery.
  • Oversee SLAs, data quality, and contract renewals in coordination with procurement and legal.

Data Governance & Quality Assurance:

  • Establish and enforce data governance practices, including data dictionaries, lineage, and stewardship processes.
  • Implement data quality monitoring and remediation frameworks to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Field Sales, Marketing, Trade and Distribution, Patient Services, and other key internal teams to align on data architecture, business rules, and reporting requirements.
  • Support Commercial leadership with ad hoc data requests and performance metrics.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate and implement new tools, platforms, and best practices to improve data operations scalability and efficiency.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for automation, data harmonization, and advanced analytics enablement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Life Sciences).
  • 6–10 years of experience in commercial data operations, analytics, or business intelligence within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
  • Strong knowledge of US pharma data sources and ecosystems (specialty pharmacy, APLD claims, hub, field activity, ).
  • Experience leading commercial data architecture and operations across complex environments.
  • Familiarity with data platforms (e.g., Redshift, Zaidyn), MDM (e.g. Veeva Network), and reporting solutions (e.g. Power BI, Veeva CRM, ).
  • Demonstrated success managing external vendors and cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and governance.
