The Role:
Our new Manufacturing Center of Excellence site in Colorado Springs is seeking a full-time Sr. EH&S Specialist to support Phase 1 of a 3-phase construction project. Phase 1 is a 130,000-sf state of the art manufacturing facility which is in its final stages of construction. The Sr. Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Specialist is responsible for all aspects of final construction, equipment and people move-in, manufacturing start up and, in the development, implementation, and execution of all aspects of EHS programs and procedures.
This role is a member of the Divisional EHS team and will report directly to the Sr. West Region EHS Manager and work closely with site leaders, employees and contractors.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Be part of the site team to ensure a safe and smooth startup of 2 production lines.
- The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing EHS programs and procedures along with continuously assessing performance through audits and inspections to verify comprehension of Entegris global policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- As an EHS resource for the site, this position will play a critical role in establishing and reinforcing a proactive culture to create an injury free work environment, promote new initiatives, and achieve industry best performance.
- This position will drive a sustainable environmentally compliant and solution driven operation. This position is also one of the key members participating on the site’s Safety Leadership Teams including Emergency Response, Sustainability, Hazardous Waste and various safety committees.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Ensure compliance with employee occupational health, safety and environmental laws, rules and regulations, applicable company policies and procedures.
- Be responsible for implementing EH&S policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and best management practices.
- Creation and submittal of EH&S reporting to ensure compliance with Federal, state, and local laws, regulations and rules.
- Leads the Sustainability / Waste Minimization team, drives reduction in hazardous waste, drives reduction in energy usage, drives change to closure making data driven decisions and ensuring the team is active, engaged and recognized.
- Lead the implementation and management of site wide EHS programs such as corporate EHS Programs, training, emergency response, hazardous waste management, incident investigation, auditing, and performance evaluation for the site. Drive a culture of EHS excellence and secures engagement and buy-in among site employees and leadership.
- Assist in delivering EHS trainings related to compliance.
- Take proactive action to implement immediate and effective corrective actions to eliminate safety hazards.
- Lead efforts to secure all required environmental permits, licenses and authorizations associated with projects and modifications. Support the design review of new projects and modifications to existing processes and facilities to identify and resolve EHS issues, and incorporate lessons learned from prior projects or alerts shared.
- Prepare EHS metrics reports that track the facility’s EHS performance.
- Interact with upper management to direct and implement effective policies and procedures; demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Have the discretion to shut down equipment, tools, projects, and such if there is an imminent hazard to the health and well-being of employees, and to protect company property and the environment.
- Understand and appropriately influence company strategy as related to Environmental Health, Safety and Security compliance and program implementation at the site operational level.
- Must demonstrate effective communication, working relationship development, and the ability to influence site management, front line supervision, as well as other employees. An emphasis on cross-functional collaboration, teamwork, and the ability to motivate outside third parties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science degree in occupational safety, occupational health, engineering, environmental science, or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university is preferred.
- EHS certifications in applicable topics (i.e., OSHA 510/511/500/501, or other similar certificates)
- A minimum three (3) years of EHS program development, implementation, and leadership experience with a focus on environmental compliance. Experience working with OSHA, US EPA and state-level compliance programs and regulations.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE OR KNOWLEDGE:
- Manufacturing experience is a plus;
- Knowledge and experience of CDPHE / EPA environmental regulations to include hazardous and non-hazardous materials management, universal waste management, spill prevention, control, and countermeasures and more;
- Knowledge and experience managing various OSHA programs such as ergonomics, lock out / tag out, machine guarding, fall prevention and protection, emergency preparedness and response, HAZMAT team training and leadership, hazard communication, laser safety, overhead crane, management of change, process safety management (PSM) and more.

Salary in the $95,000K-$115,000K/year range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
