Job Description

The STARZ Data Products & Engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who bridges the gap between high-performance application development and large-scale data systems. You will be responsible for building the robust C#/.NET services, APIs, and frameworks that power our data acquisition and delivery ecosystem while remaining focused on the data; data is our product.
You’ll be building out robust and consistent data acquisition systems with a growing portfolio of sources which enable teams to analyze, view and report on the data. Whether you're building/maintaining scalable systems to ingest millions of records or designing internal UI’s, your focus will be on clean code, scalable architecture, and data integrity.
This is an opportunity to exercise your technical skills as part of a highly skilled team from a variety of diverse backgrounds while helping every aspect of our business to be more efficient and more data drive

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable C#/.NET Core services and frameworks that automate complex data acquisition pipelines and processing workflows.

  • Build and maintain systems that allow internal applications and users to consume data seamlessly.

  • Utilize AWS CDK and cloud-native technologies to deploy and manage the lifecycle of our applications.

  • Develop tools that translate complex data sets into actionable formats for both technical data scientists and non-technical business leaders.

  • Identify bottlenecks in data delivery and re-design infrastructure for greater scalability and reliability. Recommend and implement ways to improve/ensure data reliability, efficiency, and quality.

  • Collaborate on the design of data-driven UIs/dashboards that allow users to interact with our underlying data models in real time.

  • Implement rigorous automated testing and data validation processes to ensure our "data product" is always accurate.

  • Work in a heavily collaborative environment, taking on a variety of roles, when necessary, with a positive and self-starting attitude.

Required Skills

  • Strong command of C# and .NET Core.
  • Strong command of TypeScript and building/consuming modern REST and GraphQL APIs.
  • Fluent in SQL. Strong understanding of normalization, indexing, and how to write efficient queries against Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouses.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (specifically EC2/ECS, S3, and Kinesis) and Docker for containerization.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (specifically AWS CDK or Terraform).

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience, with a heavy focus on backend systems and data-intensive applications.
  • Proven track record of building production-grade C# applications that handle high volumes of data.
  • Experience with third-party APIs—handling rate limits, retries, and schema shifts gracefully.
  • Ability to think like a product owner: you don't just move data; you think about how it will be used.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Management, or equivalent technical field.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with AWS Lambda & Step Functions for serverless orchestration.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL environments like DynamoDB.
  • Previous experience in the Media/Streaming industry or consumer-facing analytics.

Compensation

$145,000 - $165,000
