Job Overview:

Our Brand Creative team works to refine and grow Coursera's brand, aiming to engage learners worldwide through outstanding marketing across various platforms. Our writers and designers  collaborate to support Coursera's main areas, including individual learners, businesses, universities, governments, and degree programs, so that anyone, anywhere can access world-class learning.

As a Sr. Creative Manager for Brand & Creative, you’ll play a strategic role developing Coursera’s brand foundations and coaching a talented crew of creatives to deliver world-class marketing executions across a global stage. You’ll collaborate day-to-day with marketing leads, brand strategists, and oversee the creative vision for holistic, integrated design solutions across a range of channels including: digital advertising, social channels, print collateral, events, and video storytelling. You’ll foster a close partnership with our Design System team on assets, resources, and guidelines to evangelize and educate staff, freelancers, and agencies on the appropriate usage and application of the Coursera brand expression system. You’ll be a key player promoting Coursera culture and values while also coaching the team on best practices to raise the bar on agile processes, quality and craft.

Responsibilities:

  • Coach and inspire a team of creative designers to develop their talent, execution abilities, and subject matter expertise while fostering a healthy, remote-first, DEI culture. 
  • Direct and oversee the creative storytelling for integrated campaigns, event marketing, print, social, and video storytelling across Coursera’s global consumer, enterprise, and degree promotional experiences, bringing brand narratives to life in a globally consistent yet locally relevant way. 
  • Evolve, enhance, and continuously optimize Coursera’s brand expression system to build and distinguish Coursera in the online education space.
  • Champion innovation and the integration of emerging technologies—including AI—to elevate creative output, streamline workflows, and inspire new forms of storytelling and brand expression.
  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional stakeholder relationships to gain alignment around brand creative strategy, concepts, and workflow processes.
  • Partner with the Coursera Design System team to ensure education, awareness, and adoption of brand standards and guidelines across the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience as a creative designer developing high-impact, multi-channel campaigns for global brand advertising—either at an agency or in-house—or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates comparable expertise.
  • 3+ years of experience managing a team, with a proven track record of hiring, coaching, and developing talent within a high-performing team.
  • An effective communicator with a demonstrated ability to present creative concepts and messaging rationale to stakeholders using clear oral and written presentation skills.
  • Proven experience and success conceptualizing and executing effective strategic messaging, from developing creative briefs to supporting customer acquisition and awareness campaigns.
  • Deep understanding of customer acquisition and retention, with expertise in developing and leveraging various content strategies to attract and retain customers effectively.
  • Proficiency in working independently within a fast-paced, agile environment, managing multiple projects of varying complexities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with or a strong interest in leveraging AI tools and technologies to enhance creative workflows, unlock new ideas, and drive innovation in the creative process.
  • Practiced working in an agile environment leveraging design thinking practices and scrum processes in a creative environment. You’re comfortable calling an audible when necessary to help teams succeed while keeping an eye towards longer-term strategic outcomes.
  • Experience managing a roster of agencies and consultants to support overflow projects and/or big strategic initiatives.
  • Background routed in creative strategy, design systems thinking, and hands-on execution
  • Thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Passionate about Coursera’s mission (or mission-driven work more broadly), with a deep appreciation for the product and a strong understanding of the customer experience.

$164,000 - 205,000

The range(s) listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.

Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSU’s.

A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity. 

Current Zone Locations:

  • Zone 1- San Francisco Metro, New York City Metro or Seattle Metro
  • Zone 2 - CA (outside of SF Bay Area), CO, CT, DC, GA, IL, MA, MD, NY/NJ (other than NYC), OR, RI, TX, VA, WA (other than Seattle)
  • Zone 3 - all other US locations
