SUMMARY: We currently have a need for a Cloud and onPrem Data Center Architect to design and implement solutions for Enterprise and Data Center computer and networking, Cloud Hypervisor and BCDR solutions. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of relevant work experience in Cloud Networking, Network Security, Hypervisors (VMware and Hyper-V), Azure WAF and associated components, BCDR (Datto and Veeam), SAN and storage solutions, and overseeing strategic Technology Programs at Enterprise Clients. Global Financial Services, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare or Managed Service experience is strongly preferred.

PRIMARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:

  • Develop engineering solutions and explain technologies to customers.
  • Gather requirements and propose solutions including hardware, software, engineering, and Business Continuity services.
  • Provide recommendations on viability, implementation strategies and optimal implementation of solutions.
  • Develop design and system configuration based on technical requirements
  • Develop scalable solutions for DC, LAN, WAN, WLAN, Firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Develop scalable solutions for physical and virtualized compute (onPrem and Cloud) and storage solutions. (VMWare, Hyper-V, Azure, AWS)
  • Develop scalable solutions for Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions.
  • Assess and design onPrem to Cloud (Azure/AWS) migration solutions including optimization, workflows, processes, and level of effort.
  • Prepare statement of work (SOW’s), level of effort and bill of materials (BOM’s) for projects.
  • Recommend enhancements/changes to system design as appropriate
  • Identify, research, evaluate and implement emerging network technologies.
  • Provide oversight for configuration, installation and maintenance
  • Provide documentation of requirements, design decisions, and ensure continuity with the delivery teams.
  • Train deployment/field engineers for on-site deployment/troubleshooting.

PRIMARY TASK examples:

  • Review exiting networking and security environments and design/recommend modern, cloud-driven solutions.
  • Review existing hypervisor footprint and provide upgrade requirements, process, and level of effort.
  • Provide alternatives to existing solutions (VMware to Hyper-V, onPrem to Cloud, hybrid, etc.) including ROI with 3 year and 5 year TCO.
  • Review and design of Azure environment to include migration plan and effort from onPrem servers and solutions.
  • Review existing backups to include schedule, last restore test, expected RTO/RPO, scalability, and real-world reliability. Design updated solution leveraging New Era recommended solutions (Datto or Veeam) to accomplish customer requirements.  Effort to include scoping level of effort and assisting with BCDR plan creation.

COMPENTENCY:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all customer contacts.
  • Experience preparing SOW and BOMs.
  • Experience designing data center hypervisors and BCDR solutions.
  • Proficient with the design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and monitoring of core virtual compute services.
  • Proficient in Azure in Well Architected Framework
  • Familiarity and/or hands-on experience with SDWAN and Cloud Networking Solutions.
  • Experience with Datacenter compute infrastructure design/integration.
  • Experience with interoperability/integration with network security, cloud and wireless platforms a plus.
  • Proficient with the design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting and monitoring of core routing and switching, LAN/WAN/MAN services
  • Proficient in routing protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MP-BGP & IS-IS
  • Experience with Cisco APIC, Nexus 9k, 7k, 5k, 2k configuration and design.
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst 9k, 4k, 3k, 2k series switch platforms.
  • Familiarity and/or hands on experience with SDWAN and Cloud Solutions.
  • Experience with Cisco ISE/Catalyst Center
  • Experience with interoperability/integration with network security, cloud and wireless platforms
  • Utilizing scripting tools.
  • Experience working in large enterprise networks is desired. The ability to work under pressure and interface with senior management will be key to these roles.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in related technical/business areas
  • Equivalent, proven work history and experience considered

EXPERIENCE:

  • 8+ years’ experience with enterprise-level design and deployment of Hyper-visors and associated networking, SAN, NAS, and BCDR components.
  • 5+ years’ experience with Azure IaaS including migrations and optimizations.
  • 5+ years’ experience with Cloud Networking services.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: English

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Cisco data networking certifications i.e. CCNP, CCDP, CCIE strongly preferred.
  • Broadcom VMware sales and technical certification is preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified: AZ-800/801 or AZ-802 preferred
  • Datto: Kaseya Certified Expert (KCE) preferred
  • Veeam: VMCE+ (Veeam Certified Engineer+) preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Regular, repetitive movements such as typing, mouse movements, and scrolling. Ability to hear and understand spoken communications, both in person and via remote communication tools (e.g., phone, video conferencing).
  • Ability to see and read computer screens and printed documents, as well as adjust focus. This includes prolonged periods of looking at a computer screen.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Remote

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Full-time position working 40 hours per week. Overtime may be required.

TRAVEL: Travel is required, but only occasionally, and is less than 10%.
