Job Title: Software Quality Assurance Engineer – DO178

Location: Remote - US

Pay Range: $100,000 - $130,000 + Bonus Eligible

  • Services: Lynx Services is Lynx’s professional services organization that helps customers design, integrate, certify, deploy, and maintain safety- and security-critical systems. It supports industries like aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial computing through consulting, engineering, integration, and lifecycle support, reducing development risk and accelerating certification in standards-driven, mission-critical environment.

Role Overview

As a DO-178 Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer at Lynx, you will be responsible for ensuring that our software development processes and deliverables meet DO-178 certification standards. You will work closely with software engineers, certification authorities, and project leads to plan, execute, and audit quality activities across the software development lifecycle. You’ll help shape Lynx’s software quality processes, tools, and culture to scale reliably, safely, and efficiently.

In addition, you will provide focused support for safety relevant verification activities, including tracing safety mechanisms, identifying gaps in safety critical requirements, and coordinating with Engineering to ensure that verification evidence adequately covers safety impacting functionality for MOSA.ic and related product components.

 

Key Responsibilities

·        Support DO-178C certification activities (SOI-1 through SOI-4) across multiple programs, working closely with senior SQA engineers

·        Assist in preparation, review, and refinement of certification artifacts (PSAC, SDP, SVP, SCMP, etc.) to ensure consistency and quality

·        Perform SQA audits, compliance checks, and support gap tracking between planned processes and actual execution

·        Support day-to-day certification execution, including:

o   Organizing deliverables

o   Tracking review comments and closures

o   Maintaining certification evidence packages

·        Participate in configuration management and change control activities (e.g., CCB, baseline tracking)

·        Assist in preparing for customer, DER, and internal audits

·        Work closely with engineering teams to ensure certification requirements are properly implemented and understood

·        Learn and support traceability activities (SRQ/HLR/LLR/test/evidence)

·        Contribute to improving internal SQA processes, templates, and workflows to enable repeatable certification execution

·        Shadow and learn from senior SQA engineers to build deep knowledge of MOSA.ic certification approach and tools


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Software, Systems, Electrical, or related field)
  • 2–5+ years of experience in software engineering, software quality, or system engineering
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle and documentation practices
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to learn quickly in a structured, process-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across engineering and program teams
  • Willingness to grow into a long-term certification and SQA role
  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred / Desirable Qualifications

  • Exposure to DO-178C or similar safety-critical standards (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, etc.)
  • Experience supporting certification, audit, or compliance activities
  • Familiarity with configuration management and collaboration tools (e.g., Git, Jira, Confluence)
  • Basic understanding of embedded systems, operating systems, or hypervisors
  • Experience working in aerospace, defense, or safety-critical domains
