Title: Control System Engineering Manager

Location: Westminster, CO, USA (North Denver)

Division: Trimble Ag Industry Solutions (AgIS)

As the Control System Engineering Manager you will lead the control system development team, and will be responsible for providing engineering direction, fostering team growth, and ensuring the successful design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge GNC algorithms and systems for off highway vehicle motion control applications. You will apply advanced control theory principles to ensure the accurate, reliable, and robust movement and positioning of our vehicles. A key aspect of this role involves effective communication and collaboration with external teams, strategic planning, process ownership, and empowering the engineering team to achieve their goals.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

  • Experience managing a team of engineers

  • Demonstrated expertise in control system algorithm development for mechanical dynamic systems.

  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink development.

  • Experience in test, verification, validation, and productization of algorithms.

  • Familiarity with requirements decomposition and management tools.

  • Experience with Plant Modeling development tools and processes.

  • Familiarity with Safety-critical software development and certification.

  • Familiarity with HIL and SIL testing.

  • Familiarity with  C/C++ software development.

  • Background in guidance and navigation, in addition to controls.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% annually.

What You’ll Do

  • Leading, inspiring, and supporting an existing team of control system engineers, including goal setting, performance management, and career planning

  • Providing technical guidance to team members, and helping to remove roadblocks for them

  • Facilitating the efficient application of each person’s time to prioritize work by allocation and monitoring of tasks at a level of detail appropriate to each person

  • You’ll have a genuine interest in developing yourself, as well as others

  • Collaborating across geographically dispersed AgIS team and its partners to drive continuous improvements in software development processes

  • Ensure ongoing testing and product quality.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience leading technical projects.

  • Practical experience with automatic controls of off-highway machinery.

  • Experience with GNSS+IMU state estimation.

  • Autonomous/Semi-autonomous vehicle control.

Education Requirement

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related engineering fields.
