Software Engineer

KBR, is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to join us in supporting our great nation, specifically on the Air Force Tactical Exploitation of National Capabilities (TENCAP) HOPE engineering team in Colorado Springs, CO.

We are looking for innovative, creative, and highly motivated individuals to support the design and management of various databases. Specifically, the implementation and configuration of structured and unstructured databases for big data analytics within a government enterprise. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for learning, the drive to innovate, and a humble attitude. You will work cutting edge projects, solving problems that most aren't even aware exist.

As the Air Force's leader for National-to-Tactical capability development, AF TENCAP collaborates with leading experts across the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, National Laboratories, industry, inter-agency, academia, and partner nations. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Security Clearance: TS/SCI - **Must be a US Citizen**
  • Design, engineer, analyze, and develop software prototypes as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes of backend and backend for front-end components
  • Engage with customers to better define the problem space and vision to determine capabilities and priorities for prototypes
  • Work across multiple technology stacks, gaining hands-on experience with various languages, frameworks, and tools to support a broad range of applications
  • Work with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Mongo DB, Oracle, MySQL, and others

Work Environment:

  • Location: Colorado Springs, CO – Hybrid or Onsite
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal
  • Working Hours: Flexible

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. Other degrees will be considered with relevant work experience
  • Advanced proficiency in TypeScript, React, and JavaScript for front-end development and data visualization
  • Experience with Python, C#
  • Experience with Docker, AWS, and Kubernetes for containerization, cloud services, and orchestration
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, AWS SQS, AWS S3, and developing RESTful APIs using Django and Flask frameworks
  • Proficient in using GitLab for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and collaboration
  • Experienced in implementing Agile Software Development methodologies for efficient and iterative project management
  • Passion for conducting research, tackling complex problems, and continuously learning and adopting new technologies 

Desired:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience working is Erlang family of software languages
  • Ability to work independently to research and solve customer pain points
  • High level of curiosity and investigative mindset with an attention to detail, a tenacity of thought, the flexibility to adapt to new challenges, and the resiliency to overcome short-term hurdles by staying focused on the team's deliverables

Basic Compensation: $111,900.00 - $167,800.00 (Colorado Springs Only)

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity. 

Additional Compensation: 

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on-bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
