Position Overview

Bloom Healthcare is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to lead our software development team and provide technical leadership for our proprietary healthcare technology platform.

The Tech Lead will manage Bloom’s software developers, own key architectural and engineering decisions, contribute directly to application development, establish development standards, and ensure our platform remains scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable as Bloom continues to grow.

Our technology supports critical operational and clinical workflows including patient scheduling, care coordination, clinical operations, communication, interoperability, and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop Bloom’s software engineering team, including performance management, coaching, technical mentorship, and career development.

  • Delegate technical ownership and develop engineers into increasingly independent contributors.

  • Serve as the technical lead for Bloom’s proprietary healthcare application and associated services.

  • Partner closely with Product to translate business requirements into achievable technical solutions and delivery plans.

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain production-quality full-stack applications.

  • Lead architecture and technical design decisions across new development and existing systems.

  • Establish engineering standards, development patterns, coding best practices, and code review expectations.

  • Make pragmatic technical decisions balancing scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, development speed, and business needs.

  • Troubleshoot complex application, integration, database, and production issues.

  • Identify and address technical debt, performance concerns, and single points of failure.

  • Define appropriate patterns for APIs, integrations, data access, authentication, authorization, logging, monitoring, and error handling.

  • Partner with infrastructure and security teams on cloud architecture, cybersecurity, and healthcare data protection practices.

  • Improve automated testing, application monitoring, CI/CD, deployment, and release management practices.

  • Ensure critical technical knowledge and architectural decisions are documented and shared across the development team.

Experience

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience developing and supporting production applications.

  • 2+ years of technical leadership experience, including direct management or leadership of software engineers.

  • Strong track record designing, building, deploying, and maintaining full-stack production systems.

  • Experience making architectural decisions and leading complex technical initiatives from design through production.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience with backend server technologies C#, Java, Go, or TypeScript.

  • Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.

  • Advanced experience with relational databases (SQL), including data modeling, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.

  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, system integrations, authentication, authorization, and modern application architecture.

  • Experience using Claude Code or comparable AI-assisted software development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, code review, testing, and developer productivity.

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and paradigms (xUnit, Jest, Puppeteer, etc.).

  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, or comparable technologies.

  • Experience troubleshooting production systems across application, database, infrastructure, and integration layers.

  • Strong team player and communicator who collaborates effectively across technical and non-technical teams, gives and receives feedback constructively, and builds trust through clear, respectful, and proactive communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Experience developing healthcare technology or applications that handle PHI and familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR and HL7.

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, or microservices.

  • Familiarity with modern observability and application monitoring practices.
