About Netcraft

Netcraft is the global leader in cybercrime detection and disruption. We’re a trusted partner for three of the four largest companies in the world and many large country governments. We’ve blocked more than 200 million malicious sites and perform takedowns for around one-third of the world’s phishing sites.

Our purpose, passion, and expertise are focused on just one thing: protecting the world from cybercrime.

Our passion doesn’t stop at what we do - it shapes how we work, too. We’re proud of our talented team and the value each person brings. That’s why we’ve created a workplace where people feel supported and inspired, from great benefits and wellness programs to fun social events.

The Role

As a Software Engineering Intern at Netcraft, you will be trusted with meaningful, production-level work from the outset. You will contribute directly to the development and enhancement of our core platforms and services, which are used by major institutions across both public and private sectors.

You will join a specialised engineering team focused on a distinct area of our technology stack. Depending on your interests and skills, your work may involve improving the scalability of our infrastructure, enhancing the performance of our anti-phishing detection systems, developing tools to monitor and analyse web vulnerabilities, or refining user interfaces for internal and external applications.

For example, you may help scale our classification system, which processes over 15 million URLs daily, or contribute to the automation of workflows that remove malicious content from the internet. You will be supported by experienced engineers - many of whom began their careers at Netcraft as interns - and benefit from a culture of open communication, mentorship, and continuous learning.

This role can be based out of our London, Bath, or Manchester offices.

What we are looking for

We’re seeking curious, adaptable, and motivated individuals who are passionate about coding and eager to grow. You don’t need prior cybersecurity experience - just a willingness to learn.

You’ll need:

  • Strong attention to detail and a solutions-focused mindset
  • Demonstrable ability in imperative programming
  • Interest in internet technologies, network security, data mining, or web-based UIs
  • A solid academic track record
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English (additional languages are a plus)
  • Experience working collaboratively in teams
  • A well-developed sense of caution and ability to plan for the future with suitable programming abstractions, automated test suites and version control

The Reward Package

  • Attractive benchmarked salary, prorated to the duration of your placement
  • An excellent range of benefits including:
    • Opportunities for flexible working;
    • Opportunities for individual training and development;
    • 33 days holiday per year, prorated to the duration of your placement;
    • Pension scheme membership with 4% employer contributions (eligibility criteria apply);
    • Up to 2 days paid Volunteering Leave, pro-rated to the duration of your placement
    • Free meals, drinks and snacks provided daily in the offices;
    • Comprehensive wellness provisions;
    • Regular events such as monthly board game nights, quarterly socials and big summer and winter parties.

At Netcraft, we prioritise your ability to write clear, efficient code and your enthusiasm for learning over familiarity with specific programming languages. While our current technology stack includes Go, TypeScript, Perl, and MySQL, we welcome candidates from all programming backgrounds.

Prior experience in cybersecurity is not a requirement. What matters most is your passion for software development and your commitment to growing within a dynamic and impactful field.
