Important Information

The Federal Reserve Financial Services (FRFS) is seeking a senior to advanced level software engineer with strong expertise with Salesforce, Cloud (AWS), Java and full stack development. While this role may include frontend development, it is primarily focused on full stack development and delivery. In addition to application delivery, this role includes providing direct input into our architecture and technology roadmap, serving as a mentor for less experienced development staff, and close collaboration with our FRFS cross functional teams.  

Key Activities

  • Partner with product owners and customers in the development of innovative solutions that achieve business goals.

  • Review and analyzes business and technical requirements and implements technical solutions to meet those requirements.

  • Work in multidisciplinary team with full-stack developers.

  • Apply the principles of software engineering to the design, implementation, configuration, integration and optimization of multiple applications.

  • Create unit tests as part of Continuous Development.

  • Conducts peer code reviews, provides recommendations, and works with peers to improve software coding practices.

  • Fix bugs and supports QA, UAT, and Production phases of releases.

  • Keep abreast of the latest and emerging Salesforce, Cloud, Java and related technologies.

  • Foster and apply an agile mindset enabling high-performing teams.

  • Provide coaching, education and advocates for development best practices.

  • Provide support, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident management, and service request management for supported products and environments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires at least 6 years of relevant experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree specializing in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.

  • Senior understanding of subject matter. Has in-depth and/or breadth of knowledge in discipline.

  • Proficiency with Git (merging, conflicts, cherry picking), Apex, Java, AWS, Python, and SOQL.

  • Subject matter expertise with Salesforce, Apex, Cloud and Java coding.

  • Performs work independently with limited supervision and direction. Serves as a mentor for less experienced staff.

  • Works efficiently under tight deadlines and adapts quickly to change.

  • Amazing attention to detail and pride in delivering consistently pixel perfect work.

  • Creation of modern CI/CD pipelines using DevOps tooling (i.e., Gitlab)

  • Knowledge of AWS services and security best practices.

  • Cloud networking across numerous accounts, environments, and vendors, and zero trust principles.

  • Terraform and CDK to deploy AWS cloud services and infrastructure.

  • API infrastructure and development, and associated tools and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge and advanced experience with Salesforce configuration and Apex coding.

  • Advanced experience with multiple programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.).

  • Advanced knowledge of some cloud-based platforms like AWS and the ability to learn new platforms.

  • Willingness to become proficient in any new languages and/or development related tools quickly.

  • Experience with application observability and monitoring across disparate tools and services.

Additional Information

How We Work:

  • On-site: 5 days per month work from home flexibility

  • Locations: Kansas City, Denver, Oklahoma City or Omaha

  • Remote Eligible: No 

Salary:

  • Senior Level: $110,300 - $155,700 / annual

  • Advanced Level: $125,200 - $176,700 / annual

  • Final offers are determined by factors including the candidate’s qualifications, internal alignment considerations, district assignment, and geographic location.

Screening: US Citizens or Green Card holders and Permanent Residents with at least 3 years of residency. This position has additional screening requirements due to the information accessed while performing the job. These additional screenings would be initiated at the time of offer acceptance and can take up to a couple of months to be completed. You can begin work before the screening is completed; however, continued employment is contingent on acceptable screening results. The areas screened may include education/employment verification, criminal history, credit history, and reference checks. 

Sponsorship: The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without an end date and without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
