JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- AI Integration: Design and implement systems to interface with large language models for coding applications.
- Prompt Engineering: Develop, refine, and optimize prompts for effective model interactions.
- Model Fine-Tuning: Assist in adapting and evaluating foundation models and AI services for software engineering and business applications.
- Prototyping: Rapidly create and test AI-powered capabilities using Python and modern AI frameworks.
- Evaluation: Establish rigorous, repeatable frameworks to validate and ensure the robustness of AI features.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with core engineering to translate prototypes into polished production features.
- Strategic Leadership: Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies and contribute recommendations to the team.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
- Develop and maintain APIs, web services, and user-facing applications.
- Participate in testing, observability, and performance analysis of AI-enabled features.
- Support responsible AI practices, including evaluation, safety, security, and monitoring.
- Contribute to cloud-based application development and deployment processes.
- Team Engagement: Actively participate in pair programming, code reviews, and team brainstorming sessions.
- May perform a variety of tasks at the direction of the management team.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications)
- Student must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Student studying Math, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field. or a related major preferred.
- Student should be pursuing a degree in a related major in the department of interest and possess some former work or internship experience.
- Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Student is to successfully complete all required screenings prior to hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required Skills:
- Python programming
- Web development frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, or Flask/Django)
- SQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL).
- Experience/Interest in Large Language Models / Deep Learning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Superior interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated with the ability to multi-task.
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Possesses proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience using AI development frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, LlamaIndex, or similar technologies.
- Experience working with AI platforms and APIs from major cloud providers or foundation model vendors.
- Exposure to Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, embeddings, and agentic workflows.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, or infrastructure automation.
- Understanding of responsible AI principles, AI evaluation methodologies, and software security best practices.
- Demonstrated experience building software through coursework, research projects, hackathons, open-source contributions, or internships.
- Passion for improving developer productivity and creating innovative AI-powered experiences.
WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
- Work assignments are diversified. Interpret, comprehend and apply complex material, data and instruction.
- Prepare, provide and convey diversified information.
- Minimal physical effort required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically with less than 10 lbs. (e.g., papers, books, files and small parts, etc.).
- Moderate dexterity.
- Regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination.
