About the role

The Shop Supervisor oversees daily operations of the facility's maintenance shop, ensuring all equipment and systems are maintained, repaired, and operational. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The supervisor will monitor inventory, order supplies, and maintain records of all maintenance activities. They will also troubleshoot complex issues, provide training, and implement efficiency improvements. 


What you'll be doing

  • Supervise and lead a team of shop maintenance technicians and staff.
  • Manage CDL drivers, welders, landscapers, and other shop support team members.
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize maintenance and repair activities to support shop operations.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety requirements, company policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Oversee inventory management and coordinate the procurement of parts, supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and other shop activities.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical equipment issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Train, coach, and develop maintenance personnel to support team performance and technical growth.
  • Collaborate with other departments, contractors, and vendors to coordinate maintenance needs and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Conduct routine inspections of shop equipment and work areas to identify maintenance needs and ensure proper operating conditions.


What you'll have

  • Comprehensive knowledge of shop maintenance systems, procedures, equipment, and repair methods.
  • Understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance practices and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and standards governing shop operations.
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise, and develop maintenance technicians.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with employees, departments, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize maintenance activities while managing competing demands.
  • Experience planning and overseeing maintenance projects from initiation through completion.
  • Ability to interpret maintenance data and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Strong attention to detail in maintenance documentation, inspections, and completed work.
  • Ability to make timely decisions when addressing maintenance issues and operational needs.
  • Ability to train maintenance personnel on procedures, equipment, and safe work practices.
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience managing maintenance inventory, parts, supplies, and procurement activities.
  • Ability to manage maintenance budgets and allocate resources effectively.
  • Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to adapt to changing operational requirements and maintenance priorities.
  • Typically 5–7 years of experience in shop maintenance, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
  • Proven supervisory experience in a shop or industrial maintenance environment.
Physical requirements and work environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move equipment as needed (50 pounds)
  • Ability to work onsite in a mining or data center environment (heat, noise, etc.)
  • Exposure to high noise levels and varying temperatures
Safety Requirements
  • PPE & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots).
  • Hazard Awareness: Proactively identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards or unsafe conditions.
  • Standards: Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety training.
  • Organization: Keep all work areas clean and free of obstructions to prevent workplace accidents.
