This role directly supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract, where your shift leadership ensures continuous network reliability and mission-essential communications around the clock.

What You'll Be Doing

The Senior Global Network Operations and Security Center (GNOSC) Watch Officer / Network Engineer serves as a critical shift lead, supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) enterprise.

This position carries overall responsibility for MDA IM/IT service operations, ensuring continuous 24/7/365 network reliability, active cybersecurity monitoring, and mission-essential communications. The candidate will:

  • Lead the watch team in supporting high-profile Flight Tests (FTs), Ground Tests (GTs), and joint military exercises.
  • Oversee shift-level incident management
  • Ensure rapid coordination and communication using the RACI framework
  • Manage key technical escalations up to Executive Management and Government decision-makers.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience delivering executive-level technical briefs under high-stress conditions.

What You Bring

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have 4, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
    • May be reduced with completion of advanced education
  • Must have 2, or more, years of directly related/progressive experience, with at least 1 year in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Security Operations Center (SOC), or closely related 24/7 mission-support environment.
  • Must have an active DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GSEC, or SSCP) or higher at the time of hire.
  • Must be able to work quarterly rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) and excel within a highly demanding, fast-paced operational environment.
  • Must have an active DoW Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

Frameworks & Process Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of the ITIL framework, particularly Incident, Problem, Change, and Continual Service Improvement processes. Experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) inspection processes.

Systems Administration:

  • Hands-on experience administering Windows and Linux/UNIX environments in a large enterprise, including working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server (2012/2016/2019), EMC Storage, and SCCM Patch Management.

Network Engineering:

  • Solid foundation in network design, implementation, and routing/switching, including configuring firewalls, routers, switches, and cryptographic devices.

Cybersecurity & Compliance:

  • Practical experience with DISA-mandated security tools (e.g., Assured Compliance Assessment Solution [ACAS], Host Based Security System [HBSS]), analyzing vulnerability scans, and formulating compliance reports.

Identity Management:

  • Familiarity with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) authentication and Information Security best practices in a secure government network environment.
