Must be experienced in the Identify and Protect Security Functions, including but not limited to Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM), vulnerability management, and secure architecture. Senior Consultants lead diverse teams of consultants with varying skills to meet and exceed client expectations through scoped engagements. This role will lead multiple client engagements—including exposure management assessments, vulnerability management program reviews, and remediation strategy development—or support larger-sized client engagements.

Senior Consultants contribute to client delivery by executing the necessary technical or process-focused tasks, producing high-quality architectural, security, and program artifacts, and presenting findings and recommendations throughout an engagement. Senior Consultants may be assigned a Project Coordinator role to ensure delivery engagements adhere to the associated timeline, support project reporting requirements, and maintain alignment to the intended objectives. Senior Consultants are primary leaders of AHEAD’s security delivery teams responsible for assessments, designs, and operational documentation.

Senior Consultants also support business development activities alongside a sales specialist to help qualify client needs and expectations, particularly where security architecture, exposure prioritization, design tradeoffs, or solution feasibility must be evaluated. They may be directly engaged in client-facing interactions to assess current-state environments, articulate future-state CTEM and vulnerability management capabilities, and produce and/or present sales proposals or support client-visioning workshops.

Lastly, AHEAD Senior Consultants leverage their visibility and experience to contribute to the continuous improvement and maturation of in-practice service offerings and capabilities. This includes influencing architectural standards, design patterns, and security approaches, as well as positively impacting the service portfolio and individuals on the team through thought leadership and mentorship.

Responsibilities

    • Lead client assessments of CTEM and vulnerability management programs, including reviewing asset discovery and inventory, exposure identification, vulnerability scanning and assessment, risk-based prioritization, remediation workflows, and validation practices.

    • Request and analyze evidence of program maturity, relevant technology configurations, asset coverage, scanning practices, remediation processes, exception handling, reporting, and governance.

    • Write consistent, detailed observations and practical recommendations based on risk to client environments and programs.

    • Develop actionable remediation strategies and roadmaps that account for exposure severity, exploitability, business criticality, asset context, and operational dependencies.

    • Advise clients on improving visibility into their attack surface, prioritizing exposures, and coordinating remediation across infrastructure, cloud, applications, and security teams.

    • Support the design and implementation of vulnerability management and exposure management processes, including roles, ownership, service levels, metrics, and reporting.

    • Evaluate security tools and integrations that support asset discovery, vulnerability assessment, exposure prioritization, remediation tracking, and validation.

    • Perform technical analysis of client environments and dependencies to inform risk prioritization, remediation sequencing, and implementation planning.

    • Lead and participate in the development of CTEM strategies, vulnerability management plans, procedures, runbooks, and playbooks.

Client Delivery

    • Facilitate strategy, roadmap, design, and planning workshops for small to medium-sized engagements, anchoring discussions in architectural principles, security patterns, and measurable outcomes.

    • Ensure customer expectations are appropriately set and managed.

    • Drive and manage objectives, requirements gathering, project tasks and milestones, project status, dependencies, and timelines to ensure successful, on-time delivery aligned to business objectives.

    • Lead or contribute to solution architecture and design discussions, including the development of secure technology architectures and operating models that support clients’ CTEM, vulnerability management, and risk-reduction objectives.

    • Consult on solution designs that employ strong security controls, clearly defined ownership, effective integrations, and operational workflows for identifying, prioritizing, and remediating exposures.

    • Create and finalize project deliverables, including peer review for collateral developed by others on a delivery team.

    • Present deliverables to client executive management.

    • Apply knowledge of AHEAD’s project lifecycle management activities to effectively support delivery engagements throughout the duration of a project.

Business Development

    • Support business development pursuits through client discovery meetings.

    • Represent service offerings during the sales cycle, including project scoping, proposal development, and presenting proposals to clients.

    • Provide consultative input during sales cycles related to secure architecture, CTEM and vulnerability management strategies, and solution feasibility.

    • Apply knowledge of AHEAD’s sales management lifecycle to effectively support sales opportunities throughout the duration of a proposal.

    • Assist Principal Consultants and Security Sales Specialists with engagement scoping and the creation of proposal collateral.

Practice Development and Thought Leadership

    • Maintain subject matter expertise in a minimum of four security domains or three security solutions.

    • Participate in the development, enhancement, and standardization of in-practice service offerings, primarily services related to CTEM, vulnerability management, exposure prioritization, and remediation strategy.

    • Enable more than one service capability.

    • Maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of current and future state IT trends, technologies, and standards.

    • Lend support and mentorship to junior consultants and peers.

People Leadership

    • In addition to leading multiple projects, Senior Consultants provide technical leadership, ongoing mentoring, and guidance to junior consultants and peers. They may coordinate project teams and support professional development as appropriate to the engagement and practice.

Qualifications

    • Undergraduate technical degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT Management, or Cybersecurity preferred, but not required.

    • Minimum of 10 years of professional, relevant experience, including experience leading technical work or client engagements.

    • Three professional and/or technical certifications, including industry-recognized certifications that align to AHEAD’s Security service portfolio.

    • Demonstrated experience consulting on secure architecture, vulnerability management, CTEM, or related security program design within complex enterprise environments.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite).

    • Comfortable addressing groups of people in virtual or in-person settings.

    • Ability to solve complex, abstract problems.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, good listener, ability to connect with different personalities.
