The Senior Technical Accountant at Breeze Airways will be responsible for overseeing several complex accounting areas including but not limited to revenue recognition, lease accounting, stock-based compensation, and debt accounting.

The role will report to the Manager, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting and will interact with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and commercial teams.

Here's what you'll do
  • This position is primarily responsible for research and review of all the Company’s technical requirements both GAAP and Statutory requirements.
  • This role also is responsible to ensure all external filings and reports are technically consistent, as well as, monitoring current updates in GAAP and Statutory regulations and presenting these updates to the finance leadership team
  • Monitor the activities of all accounting and airline industry standard setting bodies, i.e.
    • FASB, SEC, AICPA, DOT, FAA, etc.
  • Evaluate the impact of new pronouncements on the Company financial statements (both Statutory and GAAP)
  • Draft and/or review accounting white papers, position papers, and the Company’s position around technical accounting topics
  • Plan and coordinate research of technical accounting issues related to the Company and discussions with its outside auditors regarding the company’s evaluation of technically complex transactions
  • Monitor and update corporate accounting policies
  • Participate in external reporting and ensure public disclosure is complete and accurate
  • Consult with independent auditors on accounting matters and disclosure requirements as required
  • Participate in accounting due diligence, implementation, and integration activities including purchase accounting, fair value assessments, and related processes
  • Present GAAP and Statutory updates to accounting personnel and finance leadership
  • Assist with various special projects and supporting other Finance Department functions as necessary
  • Bring new fresh ideas and knowledge of accounting best practices and latest industry trends and assist in implementation
  • Assist in other areas as assigned. There are lots of opportunities help within the Accounting and Finance function. This position will be key in helping the Company get the Accounting department to the next maturity stage
Here's what you'll need to be successfulMinimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and education; Master’s degree a plus
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required. Prior experience in a public accounting firm preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • An energetic and positive attitude with a hands-on mentality
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to identify and allocate attention to new projects and process improvements
  • Strong experience and working knowledge of accounting standards. Specifically, ASC 606, 842 and 718
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience writing or reviewing technical accounting memorandums
  • Strong knowledge of Reg S-X and Reg S-K
  • Experience with the review or preparation of various SEC filings including Form S-1, Form 10-Q, Form 10-K etc.
  • Experience with developing or auditing strong control environments which have been subject to Section 404(b)
  • Experience with Initial Public Offerings (IPO)
