Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, transfer crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Software Engineer II to join Aurora’s Map Fusion team. The Map Fusion team is responsible for:

  • Dynamically updating map content based on perceived lane boundaries and construction blockages on-the-fly.
  • Updating routing plans based on unexpected construction observed online.
  • Producing smooth paths that can be used as initial seeds for motion planning trajectory optimization through construction and other unexpected circumstances.
  • Proving that all of this functionality can be achieved in a high-integrity, highly available way.

In this role, you will

  • Mission-critical online algorithms in the intersection of semantic mapping and motion planning.
  • Validation frameworks running on large amounts of data in large cloud compute settings.
  • Safety case evidence

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience, with strong C++ and Python Fluency
  • Robotics Systems Fluency (Coordinate Frames, System Dynamics)
  • Technical Leadership (People Management is Not Required)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bayesian Experience
  • Deep / ML Experience
  • Experience with System Testing / Validation

The base salary range for this position is $105K - $157K per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
