Job Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in Python and C++, with a deep understanding of ROS2, real-time systems, application containerization, and robust DevOps practices. This role will be pivotal in developing and deploying cutting-edge software solutions, with a particular focus on industrial machine vision applications. Preferred candidates will bring experience with software development, industrial cameras, 2D/3D vision systems, and GUI development.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software solutions using Python and C++.

  • Develop and maintain software within the ROS2 framework.

  • Engineer and optimize software for performance, ensuring reliability and determinism.

  • Implement and manage application containerization using technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Champion and implement DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.

  • Participate in code reviews to maintain high software quality standards.

Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Robotics, or a related field

Work Experience:
  • 5+ years industry experience
  • Proven professional experience in software development with strong proficiency in Python and C++.

  • Solid experience with Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2) and its ecosystem.

  • Demonstrable experience in developing software for time-sensitive applications.

  • Proficiency in application containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Strong DevOps expertise, including experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions), version control (e.g., Git), documentation/ticketing (Confluence/Jira), and automation scripting.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with industrial cameras, including their integration and control.

  • Hands-on experience working with 2D and/or 3D vision systems and libraries (e.g., OpenCV, PCL).

  • Experience in setting up and calibrating vision systems and sensors.

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

  • Experience in the industrial automation, manufacturing, or robotics industry.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

  • Self-motivated and driven to understand use cases and support implementation.

  • Willingness to ask questions and build networks/relationships with other departments/groups.

Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and use hands to finger, handle, and feel. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and have adequate mobility to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

  • Responsible for working in compliance with the provisions of the Health and Safety Act as well as any rules or standards otherwise specified by OSHA or MIOSHA or any other government regulations. Expected to exercise caution in all work activities and report any unsafe conditions, injuries, or near misses to the appropriate supervisor.

Indirect Supervisory Responsibilities in working with external groups):
  • Plan, organize, and supervise the work of external staff of Engineers, Scientists and Technicians pertaining to projects s/he is responsible for

  • Evaluate progress of the external staff and results obtained.

  • Recommend changes to achieve overall objectives.

  • Advise on the management of staffing needs, selection/ assessment criteria, and hiring process.
